Shifts to 60-day IL Davis (elbow) was placed on the 60-day injured list Wednesday, Alex Stumpf of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.

Impact The 28-year-old was diagnosed with the left elbow sprain earlier Wednesday and will be sidelined for the first couple months of the season. Davis appeared in nine games during stints with the Phillies and Pirates in 2020, allowing eight earned runs over 6.2 innings.

Diagnosed with left elbow sprain Davis has been diagnosed with a left elbow sprain, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

Impact Davis experienced discomfort in his left elbow during the offseason that is delaying his start to spring training. It's not yet clear when he'll be ready to pitch in spring games, but Pirates director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk said Wednesday that he's progressing in his recovery.

Delayed by elbow soreness Davis dealt with offseason elbow soreness and won't be ready to pitch when spring games begin, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Impact Davis has yet to be diagnosed with anything worse than soreness, so there's seemingly a chance he recovers in time to push for an Opening Day roster spot. It's never a good sign to see a pitcher already battling injuries before camp begins, however, so a clear timeline for his return may not be available for some time.
