Picks up relief win Adams (3-2) allowed no hits and one walk in one scoreless inning to earn the win against the Phillies on Sunday.
Impact Adams relieved Blake Snell in the fifth inning, and he picked up his first win since May 29 since the Padres' offense provided plenty of run support early in the contest. The right-hander has allowed just one unearned run in 5.1 innings across his last seven appearances.

Takes loss Friday Adams (2-2) was tagged with the loss against Philadelphia on Friday. He pitched one-third of an inning, giving up an unearned run on one hit and one walk while striking out one.
Impact The Padres rallied with two runs in in the ninth inning to send the game to extra frames but were unable to push another run across the plate in the top of the 10th. Adams was summoned to face the Phillies in the bottom of the frame and intentionally walked the first batter he faced before striking out Didi Gregorius. However, Brad Miller followed with a double to score the inherited runner, and Adams walked off the mound with his second loss of the season. The run he allowed was unearned, and the right-hander has surrendered only one earned run over his past 32 appearances covering 25.1 innings. He has racked up a 39:13 K:BB over that span.

Takes first loss Adams (2-1) allowed a run on a hit and a walk while failing to record an out, taking the loss Wednesday versus Colorado.
Impact The right-hander walked Trevor Story on five pitches, and Story stole second base. Charlie Blackmon then hit a walkoff single that left Adams with his first loss of the season. He entered Wednesday with no runs allowed in his last five innings. Adams has a 2.25 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 36:12 K:BB across 24 innings this year. He's added five holds and a blown save across 30 appearances as a part of the bridge to closer Mark Melancon.

Reinstated from 10-day IL Adams (elbow) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Saturday.
Impact Adams was shut down in early March due to a minor elbow issue, but he's been pitching at the alternate training site and has now been cleared to return to game action. The right-hander only made three relief appearances for the Padres in 2020 but could serve in a setup role this year if he can remain healthy. Nabil Crismatt was sent down in a corresponding move.

Working way back at alternate site Adams (elbow) has been pitching at the Padres' alternate training site, but his return date remains undetermined, AJ Cassvell of MLB.com reports.
Impact Adams was shut down with what has been described as a minor elbow issue in early March and was placed on the 10-day injured list near the end of spring training. He's eligible to come off the IL this Thursday, but there's no guarantee that he'll be activated immediately despite the fact that he has been throwing at the team's alternate site. "We don't [want] to send somebody back before they're ready -- either health or to their standards of being able to get Major League hitters out," manager Jayce Tingler stated when discussing Adams and fellow recovering reliever Pierce Johnson (groin).

Ticketed for IL Padres manager Jayce Tingler said Monday that Adams will open the season on the 10-day injured list due to a minor elbow issue, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Impact After finishing the 2020 season on the IL while recovering from ACL surgery, Adams received full clearance ahead of spring training. The elbow issue surfaced soon thereafter, however, as Adams hasn't made a Cactus League appearance since March 7 due to the injury. TIngler stressed that Adams isn't dealing with any sort of long-term setback, so the right-hander could be ready to join the San Diego bullpen at some point shortly after the minimum 10 days.
MARCH 29, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Enters camp healthy Adams is fully recovered from ACL surgery and healthy for the 2021 season, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Impact Adams was acquired from the Mariners to bolster the Padres' bullpen just prior to the trade deadline last season. He wasn't particularly effective in the short stint with his new club, but disclosed that he was still getting back to full strength after recovering from ACL surgery. Reports to this point in camp suggest that his velocity has returned and his command has been sharp. Though not likely to factor into the saves picture, Adams could occupy a high-leverage role in the Padres' bullpen.
