Can't maintain lead Gose allowed a run on a hit and struck out one in two-thirds of an innings in Tuesday's 10-5 win over the Reds. He was charged with a blown save.

Impact Gose entered the game in the sixth inning in relief of starter Shane Bieber, who exited after allowing an RBI double to Jonathan India. Gose then promptly gave up a two-run, game-tying home run to Tyler Naquin. While it'll count as a blown save, Gose has yet to receive a traditional save opportunity. He'll continue to be part of a late-inning mix leading up to closer Emmanuel Clase, who has been shaky to begin the season.

Impact Gose earned a cup of coffee with Cleveland at the end of last season and performed well. He allowed one run, two hits and two walks with nine strikeouts in 6.2 innings with a fastball that averaged 99.4 mph. It's an extremely small sample size, as is his one run allowed in four innings in spring training this year. Nonetheless, the former outfielder is set for a significant role, and he could help in fantasy formats that count holds if he can put up good ratios.

Impact The outfielder-turned-reliever ascended to the majors Sept. 20, and he was pretty solid in a low-leverage role. Gose added nine strikeouts across his six appearances. The southpaw could be a candidate for the big-league bullpen in 2022, but Emmanuel Clase should be favored for saves heading into next season after ending 2021 as Cleveland's unquestioned closer.

Coming back to majors as pitcher Cleveland will select Gose's contract from Triple-A Columbus ahead of Monday's doubleheader with the Royals, Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports.

Impact A once-promising outfield prospect while coming up through the Blue Jays' system, Gose slashed .240/.309/.348 across 1,252 plate appearances with Toronto and Detroit from the 2012 through 2016 seasons before converting to pitching. The transition initially proved rough, but Gose began generating better results in 2019 and was awarded an assignment to Triple-A coming out of spring training. The 31-year-old lefty has been especially effective since rejoining Columbus in mid-August following a stint at the Tokyo Olympics with Team USA; over his final 12 appearances with the affiliate, Gose gave up one run while striking out 22 over 14 innings. Blessed with a fastball that occasionally touches the triple digits, Gose will get a chance to make a case for a spot in Cleveland's 2022 bullpen during the final two weeks of the current season.
