Set for UCL reconstruction Zerpa will undergo UCL reconstruction on his left elbow next week, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Impact Zerpa went on the injured list last week and after seeking multiple opinions has made the decision to go under the knife. He will likely be sidelined until around midseason next year. Acquired from the Royals via trade over the offseason, Zerpa will finish the 2026 campaign with a 6.39 ERA and 8:6 K:BB over 12.2 innings. He'll be eligible for salary arbitration for a second time this winter.

May need Tommy John surgery Manager Pat Murphy said Sunday that Zerpa (forearm) is deciding whether or not to undergo Tommy John surgery, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Impact The left-hander landed on the injured list Wednesday due to forearm tightness, and he could end up being out for the season and beyond. Even if Zerpa doesn't end up needing Tommy John surgery, he seems likely to be sidelined for multiple months.

Brewers place left-handed reliever Angel Zerpa on injured list with forearm tightness

Milwaukee Brewers left-handed reliever Angel Zerpa is on the injured list because of left forearm tendinitis
APRIL 29 • Associated Press
Out with forearm tightness The Brewers placed Zerpa on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with left forearm tightness, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Impact It's unclear when his forearm began bothering him, but Zerpa last pitched Saturday and had been scored upon in each of his last three appearances. Brian Fitzpatrick will take Zerpa's spot on the roster and in the bullpen.

Tagged with loss in extras Zerpa (0-2) was tagged with the loss in relief Saturday against the Pirates after allowing three runs (one earned) on one hit and one walk across two-thirds of an inning. He struck...
Impact Zerpa pitched the 10th inning, but he was lifted after he had already given up a run and recorded two outs. To make things even worse, the two baserunners that had already reached base when he exited the game came to score on Nick Gonzales' two-RBI single off Grant Anderson. Zerpa has been struggling of late and has allowed runs in all but two of his last eight outings in relief. He has a 6,39 ERA on 12.2 innings and 12 appearances, so he's not a reliever you should trust in fantasy on any format.

Grabs second save Zerpa earned the save Thursday against the Blue Jays, allowing one hit over a scoreless ninth inning.
Impact Zerpa entered the ninth with a one-run lead and had to navigate around a leadoff single to Vladimir Guerrero, but he settled in to secure his second save of the season. Despite the clean inning, the southpaw's overall numbers remain inflated from a rough outing last week in which he allowed four runs, leaving him with a 5.40 ERA across 10 innings.

Jorbit Vivas and Drew Millas drove in runs with two of Washington’s three successful bunts in a four-run ninth inning that lifted the Nationals over Milwaukee Brewers 7-3

Tallies first career save Zerpa picked up the save Monday against Boston, giving up on one run on two hits and no walks in the ninth inning.
Impact With closer Trevor Megill and top setup man Abner Uribe both likely unavailable after working each of the past two days, it was Zerpa who drew the save opportunity and came away with his first career save. Things weren't easy though, as Willson Contreras homered and Wilyer Abreu singled to bring the potential tying run to the plate, but Zerpa got Trevor Story to ground out to end the game. The left-hander should see occasional high-leverage work, but Megill and Uribe are still the primary ninth-inning options in most situations.

Dazzles in WBC game Zerpa tossed a scoreless seventh inning for the Venezuelan team in Saturday's WBC game.
Impact Zerpa did not allow a baserunner in the outing and struck out two batters -- one of them being Shohei Ohtani. He has not allowed a run this spring -- either for the Brewers or Team Venezuela -- and figures to fill a key role out of Milwaukee's bullpen when the regular season gets underway.

Red Sox Acquire Caleb Durbin In Six-Player Trade With Brewers
Gets one-year deal from Milwaukee The Brewers and Zerpa avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $1.095 million contract Thursday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
Impact Zerpa was acquired via trade from the Royals earlier in the offseason and had been eligible for arbitration for the first time. The lefty held a 4.18 ERA and 1.38 WHIP across 64.2 innings in 2025 and could be stretched out as a starting pitcher in his first spring training with the Brewers.
JANUARY 8 • ROTOWIRE
Could work as starter Brewers GM Matt Arnold said Sunday that the organization is open to utilizing Zerpa as a starting pitcher, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Impact The left-hander was acquired from the Royals in exchange for Isaac Collins and Nick Mears, and the Brewers apparently view Zerpa as more than a relief option. The 26-year-old came up through the minors as a starter but operated as a reliever the past two years for the Royals, making all but two of his 129 regular-season appearances out of the bullpen. Even if he sticks as a starter and is fully stretched out to begin the season, Zerpa could have a short leash given his limited workload as a reliever.
