Settling into everyday role Burleson has made 13 straight starts for the Cardinals, including three straight against left-handed pitching.
Impact The left-handed-hitting Burleson's first start this season against a traditional left-handed starter didn't come until May 31. However, he has started five of seven tilts versus lefties since that date and is slashing .381/.409/.571 against southpaws during that stretch. Burleson is batting .346/.379/.569 with seven homers since May 1 versus all pitchers, and he has hit third in five of the Cardinals' last six contests. A career .572 OPS against lefties suggests Burleson could be due for some regression in that area, but he should continue to play every day for the time being, especially while Ivan Herrera (hamstring) is shelved.

The 26-year-old has now hit safely in 14 of 16 June contests, a stretch that includes six extra-base hits, 10 RBI and nine runs scored. Hot start to June Burleson went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Friday's 3-2 loss to Milwaukee.
Impact Burleson continued his hot start to June, as he now has four multi-hit games to begin the month. Across his last 38 at-bats, the lefty-hitting slugger is batting .368 with one homer, two doubles, four RBI and six runs scored. Burleson regularly sits against southpaws -- he's taken just 24 at-bats versus left-handers this year -- but he should continue to serve as St. Louis' primary designated hitter against right-handed pitching.

Goes deep in three-hit attack Burleson went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run, a walk and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 10-7 loss to Kansas City.
Impact It was Burleson's first three-hit attack since May 14, and he also ended a 10-game homerless dry spell. The 26-year-old slugger is still tearing the cover off the ball of late, as he's batting .338 with five home runs, four doubles and 12 RBI over his last 21 outings (68 at-bats). The lefty-hitting Burleson has worked as one of St. Louis' top designated hitters versus right-handed pitching, but he's taken just 14 at-bats against southpaws on the campaign.
