INJURIES

Garnering look in everyday role Roden will start in right field and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Angels.
Impact Roden was left out of the lineup for Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Guardians after being called up from Triple-A St. Paul that day, but he's picked up starts in each of the Twins' ensuing five games. He's thus far gone 3-for-11 with two walks and three RBI while slotting between the sixth and eighth spots in the lineup. Roden should get the chance to play regularly against right-handed pitching while Byron Buxton (hip) is on the shelf.

Walk-off in season debut Roden went 2-for-5 with two RBI in Wednesday's 6-5 win against Cleveland.
Impact Roden barreled a walk-off single off the wall in center-field in his season debut for the Twins. The 26-year-old was promoted yesterday to play in the outfield in the wake of the Byron Buxton (hip) injury. The lefty hit well in the minors this season, slashing .272/.397/.512 with eight home runs and a 24:25 BB:K in 33 games with St. Paul.

Recalled from Triple-A The Twins recalled Roden from Triple-A St. Paul on Tuesday, Aaron Gleeman of AaronGleeman.com reports.
Impact Roden missed time earlier this season with a shoulder injury but has been excellent when healthy, slashing .272/.397/.512 with eight home runs and a 24:25 BB:K over 33 games with St. Paul. The 26-year-old can handle all three outfield spots and could get some looks in center field while Byron Buxton (hip) is sidelined.

Returns from Triple-A IL Triple-A St. Paul reinstated Roden (shoulder) from its 7-day injured list Monday.
Impact Roden is expected to play in Tuesday's series opener versus Omaha in what will be his first appearance for St. Paul since April 22. After being shut down due to torn labrum in his throwing shoulder, Roden was cleared to rejoin St. Paul after completing a rehab assignment over the past two weeks, during which he went 5-for-12 with a home run, two doubles and seven walks in five games between the rookie-level Florida Complex League and Single-A Fort Myers.

Impact Roden remains on Triple-A St. Paul's 7-day injured list, but he looks to be closing in on a return to the Twins' top affiliate around the middle of June now that he's began taking part in game action in the lower levels of the minors. The 26-year-old outfielder produced an .889 OPS in 19 games with St. Paul before landing on the shelf April 24 due to a right shoulder labrum tear.

Twins News: Byron Buxton's injury, Royce Lewis returns, Mick Abel ramps up, Alan Roden takes big step Let's hope Buxton isn't sidelined for too long.
JUNE 6 • PUCKETTSPOND.COM
Hoping to start throwing this week Roden (shoulder) has resumed taking light swings and is hopeful to begin a throwing program Monday, MLB.com reports.
Impact After failing to win a spot on the Twins' Opening Day roster, Roden was optioned to Triple-A St. Paul coming out of spring training. He was making a case for a call-up after slashing .275/.425/.464 with three home runs and two steals in 19 games at St. Paul, but the left-handed hitter was shut down in late April and placed on the 7-day injured list after suffering a torn labrum in his right (throwing) shoulder. Roden is expected to require a three-week buildup with his throwing program before beginning a rehab assignment in the lower levels of the minors, so he would appear unlikely to rejoin the St. Paul lineup until around the middle of June.

Impact Roden is expected to rest and rehab the injury for the next four weeks, ultimately avoiding surgery for the time being. The outfielder has produced a .275 average with three home runs, 15 RBI, nine runs scored and two stolen bases over 69 at-bats in 19 contests with Triple-A St. Paul so far this season.

Twins reinstate third baseman Royce Lewis from injured list after knee sprain

The Minnesota Twins reinstated third baseman Royce Lewis from the injured list before beginning a three-game series against the New York Mets
APRIL 21 • Associated Press
Left off Opening Day roster The Twins optioned Roden to Triple-A St. Paul on Sunday, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.
Impact The 26-year-old batted .302 with a double, a homer and two steals in 15 Grapefruit League games, but he'll still open the season in the minors in favor of James Outman. It's worth noting that Outman has no remaining minor-league options, which likely factored into Roden's demotion to begin the season. He shouldn't have to wait too long to get another look for the rebuilding Twins.
MARCH 22 • ROTOWIRE
Hot spring may not win roster spot Roden went 2-for-5 in Friday's Grapefruit loss to Boston. Despite hitting .323 (10 for 31) with a home run this spring, both Matthew Leach of MLB.com and The Athletic project Roden...
Impact James Outman is having a strong spring and is out of options, so it's thought the Twins will send Roden to the minors to begin the season. However, the Twins outfield situation is still in flux. The team has too many left-handed hitting outfielders and a trade late in spring training seems possible. Roden could still win a role as a strong-side platoon player in left field if he wins a spot over Outman.
MARCH 14 • ROTOWIRE
Delivers grand slam Roden went 2-for-3 with a grand slam during Sunday's Grapefruit League game against Atlanta.
Impact Roden put his team in front during the top of the fifth inning by smacking a grand slam. It was evident he was seeing the ball well at the dish throughout the day, as he lined out to third base and singled to center in his other two at-bats. Roden's lack of power was a concern during his rookie campaign, so Sunday's showing is a promising start to the spring for the Creighton product.
FEBRUARY 23 • ROTOWIRE
Recovered from thumb surgery Roden, who had surgery in August to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb, had a normal offseason, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Impact It sounds like he's fully healthy as spring training begins. Roden will compete for a starting role in the outfield but could also be part of a platoon in right or left field. He struggled in his first taste of the majors last season (hitting .204 with a .589 OPS in 43 games with the Blue Jays), but had a second strong season at Triple-A (.919 OPS). He was traded to the Twins at the deadline and struggled again with a .463 OPS in 12 games before suffering a season-ending thumb injury.
