Gets NRI deal from Atlanta Schunk signed a minor-league contract with Atlanta on Tuesday, Gabe Burns of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Impact Schunk went just 6-for-32 (.188) in the big leagues in 2025, but he slashed .291/.352/.477 over 363 plate appearances with the Rockies' Triple-A affiliate. His strong minor-league performance will grant him an opportunity to carve out a role for himself in Atlanta, though he's likely to spend the majority of 2026 in Triple-A again.

Elects free agency Schunk cleared waivers Friday and elected to become a free agent, Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com reports.

Impact Schunk appeared in just 16 games for the Rockies in 2025 and managed to slash just .188/.188/.219 across 33 plate appearances. His Triple-A performance (.829 OPS over 90 games) was much better, however, and could be enough to buy the 28-year-old infielder another opportunity this winter -- likely on a minor-league contract.

Impact Schunk had been called up Aug. 8 in the wake of Orlando Arcia (elbow) landing on the injured list, but the former will return to the minors with the latter being activated Saturday. Schunk didn't see many opportunities in his latest big-league stint, logging just four hitless plate appearances across five games. Overall this season, Schunk has posted a paltry .407 OPS with 10 strikeouts over 33 plate appearances while up with the big-league club.

Impact Schunk opted to stay in the Rockies' organization after being DFA'd in late May, and the move seems to have paid off as he'll return to the majors while Orlando Arcia (elbow) goes on the 10-day injured list. Schunk has hit the ball well in Triple-A since the beginning of June, slashing .397/.417/.654 with two steals, five doubles, three triples, three home runs and 18 RBI in 84 plate appearances.
