INJURIES

Earns first big-league win Ashby (1-0) allowed two runs on three hits and a walk while striking out four over five innings in a win over the Twins on Sunday.
Impact Sunday was Ashby's longest outing of the season and just the second time eclipsing four innings or more in five appearances this year. His only trouble came in the fourth, after allowing a leadoff walk to Rob Refsnyder, Ashby served up a two-run shot to Miguel Sano to make it a 6-2 ballgame. The 23-year-old had pitched 11 straight scoreless innings before the home run and now owns a 3.95 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 13:5 K:BB over 13.2 innings. He tentatively lines up for a home start against the Cardinals next weekend.

Listed as Sunday's starter Ashby is listed as the starter for Sunday's game against the Twins, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.
Impact Ashby was recalled by the Brewers last weekend, and he allowed two hits and a walk while striking out four in two scoreless innings against the Nationals on Sunday. He has a 4.15 ERA in 8.2 innings this year and is in line to make his fourth start of the season in Sunday's series finale at Target Field.

Could start Sunday Ashby could start Sunday against the Twins, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Impact Ashby had his contract selected by the Brewers over the weekend and could receive a look in the rotation a week later. He delivered two scoreless frames last Sunday and would be making a spot start for Freddy Peralta (shoulder), who remains on the injured list.

Rejoins Brewers The Brewers recalled Ashby from Triple-A Nashville on Sunday.
Impact The lefty fills the need for a fresh bullpen arm in Sunday's series finale against Washington. Ashby has rebounded from his disastrous debut to hold opponent scoreless in his last six innings of work, striking out five and walking none in that two-game span. He may be used in a long relief role if Adrian Houser doesn't last long in his first start since Aug. 3.

Moves back to Triple-A The Brewers optioned Ashby to Triple-A Nashville on Sunday.
Impact As anticipated, Ashby will head back to the minors after he was designated as the Brewers' 27th man ahead of Saturday's doubleheader with the Pirates. He picked up his third start of the season in the second game of the twin bill, tossing four scoreless innings en route to taking a no-decision in Milwaukee's 6-0 win. With Eric Lauer returning from the COVID-19 injured list to start Sunday's series finale and with Adrian Houser also closing in on a return from the COVID-19 IL, Ashby isn't expected to get any starting opportunities with Milwaukee in the near future.

Fires four scoreless frames Ashby blanked the Pirates over four innings Saturday, allowing just three hits and striking out four. He did not factor into the decison.
Impact Ashby started the back end of Saturday's doubleheader -- just his third major-league outing -- and was firmly in command, throwing 41 of his 58 pitches for strikes while limiting the Pirates to just three singles. Ashby was rocked in his major-league debut back in June, giving up seven runs (four earned), but he's spun six straight scoreless innings over two appearances since being recalled from Triple-A Nashville earlier this week. Ashby may not stick as a starter as Milwaukee's rotation gets healthier, but he's certainly making a case to have a role with the big-league club down the stretch.

Returns to minors The Brewers optioned Ashby to Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday.
Impact As expected, Ashby will return to the minors after he was designated as the Brewers' 27th man for their doubleheader sweep of the Cubs on Tuesday. Though he started the second game of the twin bill, he acted as more of an opener in the contest, working two scoreless frames before giving way to the bullpen.

Fires two scoreless innings Ashby pitched two scoreless innings on two hits while striking out one in Game 2 Tuesday against the Cubs.
Impact Ashby was great in two innings, much different from his MLB debut where he failed to get out of the first inning. However, a 90-minute rain delay stood in the way of him being able to go deeper into Tuesday night's game. The 23-year-old carries a 4.48 ERA and a 1.38 WHIP with a 14.1 K/9 in 62.1 innings with Triple-A Nashville this season. He is likely first in line to receive future spot-starts if the Brewers need an additional starter.
AUGUST 11, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Starting Game 2 of twin bill The Brewers will call up Ashby from Triple-A Nashville to start the second game of their doubleheader with the Cubs, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Impact Ashby's MLB debut came back on June 30 against this same Cubs team, when he recorded only two outs and surrendered seven runs (four earned) on four hits and three walks. Despite putting Milwaukee in a 7-0 hole, Ashby was spared the loss when the Brewers mounted a furious comeback to win by a 15-7 margin. The Brewers are expected to designate Ashby as their 27th man for the twin bill, so he'll presumably head back to Nashville after making the spot start.

Sent back to minors The Brewers optioned Ashby to Triple-A Nashville on Thursday.
Impact Ashby put the Brewers in a 7-0 hole Wednesday in his MLB debut after he failed to escape the first inning, but Milwaukee spared him a loss by scoring 15 unanswered runs. The poor outing will still result in Ashby losing his spot on the active roster, as Nashville starter Alec Bettinger was called up in a corresponding move to aid a taxed Milwaukee bullpen that covered the final 8.1 innings of Wednesday's come-from-behind win over the Cubs.
JULY 1, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Rocked in debut Ashby allowed seven runs (four earned) on four hits and three walks in two-thirds of an inning Wednesday against the Cubs. He did not factor into the decision.
Impact Ashby, who was making his major-league debut, served as the opener in a bullpen game but couldn't get out of the first inning. He allowed seven baserunners, threw just 18 of his 39 pitches for strikes, and compounded his problems with a wild pitch that brought in one of the Chicago runs. Ashby escaped without the loss, however, after his teammates stormed back from a 7-0 deficit. It's unclear whether Ashby will get another look with the Brewers or head back to Triple-A Nashville.

Contract officially selected Ashby's contract was selected by the Brewers on Wednesday.
Impact Ashby will make his major-league debut as the starter in Wednesday's matchup against the Cubs, but the Brewers plan to have a bullpen game in the series finale. The southpaw has served as a reliever recently and hasn't pitched more than two innings in nearly a month. Since moving to the bullpen with the Triple-A club, Ashby has posted an 8.71 ERA and 2.03 WHIP in 10.1 innings.
