Continues to struggle with injuries Zalatoris underwent surgery for a partially torn labrum back in May, according to golf journalist Art Stricklin.

Impact The only real positive here is that it wasn't a back issue again for Zalatoris. That said, the Dallas area golfer just can't seem to catch a break. After very strong seasons on the PGA Tour in 2021 and 2022 that included several high finishes in majors, Zalatoris has struggled to stay healthy and get back anywhere close to that form. He has only played in four PGA Tour events in 2026, struggling earlier on this season with an ankle injury. Still just 29 years old, there is time for Zalatoris to get things back together, but he needs to stay healthy. We likely won't see him again until the fall portion of the schedule as he recovers from the torn labrum.

MC in return from injury Zalatoris recorded a 36-hole score of one-under-par to miss the cut at last week's Texas Children's Houston Open by one shot.

Impact Zalatoris, who'd been sidelined since the Farmers Insurance Open due to an ankle injury, lost 1.23 strokes off the tee during his return last week at Memorial Park. He hit just 12 of 26 fairways in regulation and converted only two of eight scrambling opportunities, though he gained 1.77 strokes with the putter. Zalatoris plans to be in attendance again this week at TPC San Antonio for his Valero Texas Open debut.

WD's ahead of first round Zalatoris has withdrawn ahead of his first round tee time at the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches, PGA Tour Communications reports.

Impact No reason was given for the withdraw, but the hope is that it is not related to his back, which has caused him several issues over the last few years. Ben Silverman will take his spot in the field at PGA National. Zalatoris is not in the field for the Arnold Palmer Invitational next week, so he won't get another tune up for THE PLAYERS Championship.

Impact It's another unfortunate back-related setback for Zalatoris, who also missed eight months of competition after a microdiscectomy in the spring of 2023. Zalatoris was so optimistic for this season saying he was feeling stronger than ever, but through the spring he started experiencing some discomfort and instability. Following a missed cut at the PGA Championship an MRI revealed two herniated discs. Zalatoris hd an incredible run in majors from 2020-2022 where he logged six top-8 finishes. It looked like it was just a matter of time before Zalatoris became a major winner and one of the top players in the game. Things just haven't been the same since his first back related issue the week after his first PGA Tour win in August of 2022. Hopefully he'll be able to play golf at some point this fall and get back to 100 percent for the 2026 season.
