Battles to T4 finish at Aronimink
Schmid finished in a share of fourth place at the PGA Championship after shooting a one-under 69 in the final round.
Impact
Schmid was looking to win just not his first major, but his first win as a professional. The 28-year-old was in the final pairing on Sunday and was right in the mix for this major championship for the larger majority of the round. The scrambling and putting was very good in the final round, but towards the end the lack of driving accuracy caught up with Schmid. It might not have even mattered considering the run Aaron Rai went on. Nevertheless, Schmid made a couple clutch pars on the last two holes of the championship to finish T4 and secure a spot in the field for the rest of the majors this year and the 2027 Masters. Schmid will be in the field for THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson next week.

Teeing it up at TPC Louisiana
Schmid (undisclosed) is listed in the field for this week's Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

Pulls out of Valero Texas Open
Schmid has withdrawn from this week's Valero Texas Open, Rob Bolton of PGATour.com reports.
Impact
Schmid was coming off a 74th place finish in Houston. No reason was given for the withdraw, but this will be Schmid's first off week of the season. This means he will likely not play again until the Zurich Classic April 23-26 because he is not qualified for The Masters or the RBC Heritage.

T5 at Puerto Rico Open
Schmid posted a 12-under cumulative score at the Puerto Rico Open to finish tied with Paul Peterson and Luke Clanton for fifth.
Impact
Schmid posted a 71-66-68-71 scorecard in Puerto Rico while ranking second in the field in driving distance, third in scrambling opportunities and T4 in GIR. The 28-year-old German has finished in the top-10 in back-to-back PGA Tour events (T9 at the Cognizant Classic), which is a much-needed turnaround after finishing 49th or worse in each of his first six Tour outings of the season (including three missed cuts). He'll look to carry that momentum into THE PLAYERS Championship next week, where he finished T26 in 2024 before missing the cut in 2025.

First top-10 of 2026
Schmid posted a 10-under cumulative score at the Cognizant Classic to finish in a four-way tie for ninth.
Impact
Schmid entered the week having finished 49th or worse in each of his previous six Tour outings (including three missed cuts), but the 28-year-old German was far better at PGA National. He was able to climb up the leaderboard thanks to his strong play over the weekend (seven-under over the final two days of the tournament). He kept his mistakes to a minimum (T6 in bogeys made) while ranking T8 in the field in GIR and in the top-25 in SG: Approach-to-Green and SG: Off-the-Tee. Schmid is in the field for the Puerto Rico Open next week, where he finished T10 and T6 in 2024 and 2025, respectively.

Approach struggles continue
Schmid finished 48th at The Genesis Invitational with a two-over cumulative score.
Impact
Schmid opened the final round with four birdies over the first five holes before carding a double bogey on the par-3 sixth, but his one-under 70 score was his best of the tournament. He did fine off the tee, ranking 12th and T13 in SG: Off-the-Tee and driving accuracy, respectively, but his struggles with the irons continued, as he lost 8.9 strokes in his approach game (51st in the field) while finishing T48 in GIR. Schmid ranks 166th in SG: Approach-to-Green this season, which is seventh-worst on the PGA Tour this season. He'll look for better results next week at the Cognizant Classic, where he finished T18 in 2025 after missing the cut in each of the two years prior.

Loses 6.7 strokes on approach
Schmid fired a four-under 68 on Sunday at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am to finish one-over and tied for 73rd.
Impact
Schmid racked up eight final-round birdies at Pebble Beach to ultimately break par for the first time all week, sinking 105 feet of putts in the process Sunday. However, he posted the second-worst SG: Approach performance of his career throughout the Signature Event, losing 6.7 strokes with his irons. Schmid has now lost strokes from tee to green in each of his first five starts to begin the 2026 campaign, dropping from 88th to 99th in the OWGR since the turn of the calendar year. Nonetheless, he qualified for The Genesis Invitational at Riviera this week.

Unable to convert 36-hole lead
Schmid posted a six-under 66 on Sunday at the World Wide Technology Championship to finish 24-under and tied for sixth place.
Impact
After firing rounds of 64-63, Schmid led by one stroke through 36 holes but was bypassed following a one-under 71 on Saturday. He was able to bounce back with eight birdies (to go along with two bogeys) in the final round to hang onto a top-10 finish. The third-year PGA Tour pro has posted a top-15 result in two of his last three starts.
