Nevertheless, he finished 11th in percentage of 320-plus yard drives at TPC Twin Cities, and Schmid's power should be useful again this week in Detroit.

Nevertheless, he'll tee it up this week at TPC Twin Cities where he placed T61-T12-T20 the past three years.

Impact Schmid finished T5 in Monday's Last-Chance Qualifier for The Open Championship, so he remains the second alternate at the season's final major. While Schmid stays across the pond with hopes of a spot in the field at Royal Birkdale becoming available, Will Gordon enters the field for the Corales Puntacana Championship.

Cracks top-25 in Scotland Schmid posted a one-under 69 in the final round of the Genesis Scottish Open to finish tied for 21st.

Impact Schmid shot under-par in each of his four rounds at The Renaissance Club, with his three-under 67 on Saturday being his best score of the tournament. He ranked 61st out of the 71 golfers who made the cut in SG: Off-the-Tee, though he also ranked T11 in birdies, 15th in SG: Approach, T16 in GIR and T23 in SG: Putting. Schmid was unable to grab one of the three exemptions to The Open that were available in Scotland. However, he will participate in Monday's Last-Chance Qualifier at Royal Birkdale, with the winner of the stroke-play event earning the final spot in the field at golf's oldest major.

Impact Schmid had been in a rut as of late on the PGA Tour, missing the cut in four of his last five events, with the lone exception being a T4 at the PGA Championship. He opened the BMW International nicely with rounds of 69-67, but any hopes of a top-10 finish were dashed by a two-over 74 score Saturday. Schmid will tee off next week at the Genesis Scottish Open, where he missed the cut in his debut at the event in 2024 before finishing T17 in 2025.

Impact Schmid was looking to win just not his first major, but his first win as a professional. The 28-year-old was in the final pairing on Sunday and was right in the mix for this major championship for the larger majority of the round. The scrambling and putting was very good in the final round, but towards the end the lack of driving accuracy caught up with Schmid. It might not have even mattered considering the run Aaron Rai went on. Nevertheless, Schmid made a couple clutch pars on the last two holes of the championship to finish T4 and secure a spot in the field for the rest of the majors this year and the 2027 Masters. Schmid will be in the field for THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson next week.
