Makes things interesting at Genesis Kitayama fired a seven-under 64 in the final round of The Genesis Invitational to finish tied with Rory McIlroy for second behind winner Jacob Bridgeman.
Impact Kitayama gave himself a steep hill to climb after going even-par in the first round. He responded by going 64-68 over the next two rounds but still found himself eight shots behind Bridgeman for the clubhouse lead. However, Bridgeman wasn't able to increase his lead Sunday, which gave Kitayama and others an outside chance of catching the former. Kitayama went three-under on the front nine and carded back-to-back birdies on holes 10 and 11. He had two chances to tie Bridgeman at the top of the leaderboard, but Kitayama barely missed his eagle putt on the par-5 17th hole and his birdie putt on the par-4 18th. Kitayama ranked second in the field in both SG: Off-the-Tee and SG: Approach-to-Green, T5 in birdies made and top-15 in SG: Putting, driving accuracy, scrambling and GIR. It was his best finish of the 2026 Tour season and his best outing since his victory at the 3M Open in July. Kitayama will take a week off before teeing off at the Arnold Palmer Invitational on March 5.
