However, he proceeded to card bogeys on the ninth, 14th and 15th holes, and his back-to-back birdies on holes 17 and 18 were not enough for him to qualify for the weekend. Knapp ranked 35th in SG: Around over the first two days of the tournament but also ranked 123rd in SG: Putting. He's missed the cut in three of his four tournaments since returning from a two-month absence due to a left thumb injury, with his T55 at the Travelers Championship in late June being the exception. Knapp is currently listed in the field for next week's 3M Open, where he finished T3 in 2025.

Impact Knapp put himself in a hole with a two-under 72 in the opening round and was unable to make up enough ground Friday to qualify for the weekend. He was one of the better iron players at The Renaissance Club, gaining 2.82 strokes in his approach play while connecting on 25 of 36 greens in regulation. However, most of Knapp's struggles came on and around the green, as he lost 3.53 strokes around the green and lost another 2.62 strokes with his putter. He's finished T74-MC-T55-MC over his last four tournaments, and it's possible that Knapp's thumb injury that sidelined him for two months is still bothering him. He's listed in the field for The Open Championship next week, which will be his first appearance at golf's oldest major.
