Impact Putnam had quite the ride this week. He began with an even-par 72 in the first round, but followed with a 12-under 60 in the second round. Putnam's bid for 59 just slid by on his final hole at La Quinta Country Club on Friday. After a strong 65 in round three, Putnam put himself only a few shots back of the lead. After bogeying his first hole on Sunday, Putnam then rallied with six birdies to close the front-nine. He was tied for the lead with Scottie Scheffler at one point, but bogeys on 10 and 13 did in his chances to win as Scheffler continued to rack up birdies. Putnam will be playing off of conditional status this season, so a strong T2 finish early in the season could go a long way. This was his first top-5 finish anywhere since late 2023. Putnam will be in the field for next week's Farmers Insurance Open.
