Productive in Cure Bowl Huff was 21-for-33 passing for 363 yards, one touchdown and one interception during Friday's 30-27 loss to Ohio. He also had 11 rushes for two yards with one touchdown.

Impact Huff tallied 365 total yards and two touchdowns to go along with one turnover as the Gamecocks were taken down by the Bobcats in the Cure Bowl last Friday. The 6-foot-1 senior quarterback will close out the season with 2,542 yards (178-of-292), 14 touchdowns and seven interceptions, adding on 1,345 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground. Huff appears to have one year of collegiate eligibility left to play with following a productive dual-threat season.

If Huff can't go, Logan Smothers figures to assume the starting role.

Impact Because of his ankle injury, Huff will be limited in Jacksonville State's practices going into the Conference USA Championship Game. It's unclear if the senior signal-caller will get an opportunity to rejoin the action Saturday. If not, Logan Smothers will likely pilot the offense the rest of the way.

Impact This was a mixed bag, to be sue. However, it is important to note Huff is not turnover prone. This was his first lost fumble, and also his first interception in five games. His three touchdowns and his rushing yards balance things out a bit.

Impact Huff previously sufferred a minor leg injury in last week's 42-20 victory over Middle Tennessee State, but most signs pointed to the senior quarterback taking the field against Liberty. Huff didn't look too hampered by the injury against the Flames, completing 60 percent of his passes and running for 130 yards on the day. Though he was held without a score, Huff helped move the offense throughout the day, putting them in position to put points on the board and secure the victory over Liberty. His next test will come when the Gamecocks travel to face Louisiana Tech next Saturday.

Huff has been a dominant force for Jacksonville State (4-3) this season, throwing for 1,406 yards (99-of-152), eight touchdowns and four interceptions, adding on a whopping 654 rushing yards and seven touchdowns with his legs. If Huff is ultimately unable to go next week, Logan Smothers would likely be the next man up for the Gamecocks.

Not only has he run for at least 77 yards in each of his last four games, but Huff has not fumbled once in those games either.

Impact At FCS Furman, Huff was a high-level running quarterback, so it's clear to see why Rich Rodriguez was intrigued in having him at Jacksonville State. He won the starting gig, and he's been really tearing it up on the ground. Over his last three games he's run 43 times for 258 yards and two touchdowns.

Impact Now, this game did go into double overtime, so the stats got boosted a bit. Even so, Huff had his best game so far with JSU. At this point, even when Logan Smothers (undisclosed) is healthy enough to return, Huff may remain the starter.

Impact In JSU's opener, Huff, a transfer from Furman, and returning Gamecock Logan Smothers had roughly equal playing time. Smothers didn't get a single opportunity to throw the ball in this one, though, so Huff seems to have won the quarterback battle...for now.
