Transfers to Georgia Southern Helton has committed to Georgia Southern for the 2025 season.

Impact Helton didn't play at all in the 2024 season and appeared in three games for Western Kentucky in the 2023 campaign, completing 11 of 12 passes for 97 yards, a touchdown and an interception. He'll add depth to the QB room, but he's not expected to compete for snaps in a game any time soon.

Impact After a carry for -17 yards, a fumble and an interception, Helton was benched for Caden Veltkamp. The good news for Helton is that he has plenty of offseason time to improve and let people forget about his bowl performance. But with Veltkamp electing to stay at Western Kentucky, Helton also staying may not assure him a starting position when the team plays football again in 2024.
