In concussion protocol Burgess is in concussion protocol, Bret Bloomquist of the El Paso Times reports.

Impact Burgess was injured making a tackle on a fake punt. The result was him going into concussion protocol, now with just one game of action left in UTEP's 2023 season. Currently, the Miners are scheduled to finish their 2023 campaign next Saturday against Liberty, which may not be enough time for his head to heal.

Rushes for 86 yards Burgess ran 15 times for 86 yards Saturday versus WKU.

Impact Burgess and Deion Hankins got essentially the same number of rushing attempts, and while Burgess was better in this one, Hankins has largely been better on the season. Both get their touches, though, and with the struggles in the passing game the Miners have, that should likely continue to be the case.

Contributes in passing game Burgess ran eight times for 25 yards and had four catches for 62 yards against NMSU on Wednesday.

Impact Burgess has three games with at least three catches and 30 yards, so he can contribute through the air. Deion Hankins has been getting more carries recently, but Burgess is still getting double-digit touches every game, because the passing offense is highly limited.
