Scores first TD of season Avery had 20 carries for 82 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 22-19 win over Bowling Green. He added two catches for five yards.

Impact After being held in check against Southern Miss in Week 1, Avery exploded against Bowling Green for career highs in carries and rushing yards. The junior also scored the most important touchdown of the game when he scampered in from 13 yards out to square the affair at 19 in the fourth quarter. After Kareem Walker got the bulk of the carries in Week 1 and struggled, Avery got most of the work in Week 2. As it happens, both backs now have exactly 30 carries on the season, and Avery is outgaining Walker 94-58. The Mississippi native might just be the new RB1 in Mobile.

Impact The Golden Eagles held the Jaguars to just 31 yards on 34 carries Saturday night. Avery had a tough go of it, averaging just 1.2 yards a pop. He'll look for more room against Bowling Green next week.
