Impact Rattler will return for his fifth collegiate season and his second with the Gamecocks. There was speculation the 6-foot-1 signal-caller might either put his name in the transfer portal or declare for the 2023 NFL Draft, though he'll now look to build on what he started with South Carolina in 2022. Over 13 games, Rattler completed 66.2 percent of his career-high 396 attempts for 3,012 yards and an 18:12 TD:INT ratio to go along with three rushing scores on 73 rushing attempts. He also finished the season on a high note, leading the Gamecocks to back-to-back upset wins over Tennessee and Clemson before pushing Notre Dame to the brink during a 45-38 loss in the Gator Bowl on Dec. 30. Rattler should still have two remaining seasons of collegiate eligibility.
