Impact The senior tight end's 18-yard touchdown catch was only the second of the season. His receiving output against Virginia was his best total in 2024. The Irish have had some quality tight ends over the years and Evans was expected to have a big year. Evans could easily match his reception output of last season (22 this season, 29 in 2023), but his yardage is only 188 yards this season compared to 422 in 2023. The combination of Riley Leonard under center, transferring from Duke, and several receiver options have reduced his output.

As their head coach Marcus Freeman indicates, 2024 is "a long season" during which Evans gradually logs more snaps.

Impact Evans exited Saturday's game against Pittsburgh due to injury and has been confirmed to be a torn ligament which will cause him to miss the rest of the season. The junior tight end totaled 29 receptions for 422 yards and one touchdown across eight games. In his absence, Holden Staes and Davis Sherwood should see more opportunities.
