Impact Keene is now slated to suit up for the Bulldogs next fall following Wednesday's announcement. The 180-pounder threw for 17 touchdowns and 1,730 yards as a true freshman at Central Florida in 2021, but he was ultimately unable to sustain his starting role for the Knights during his second season with the program.

Before converting to wide receiver late in his career at Ole Miss to make room for eventual NFL third-round draft pick Matt Corral, Plumlee started eight games at quarterback as a true freshman in 2019 and accounted for 16 total touchdowns and 1,023 rushing yards. Plumlee will likely need to show more proficiency as a passer to hold down the starting job for the balance of the campaign, as Keene represents a proven alternative that Malzahn could turn to if things go south with the Ole Miss transfer.
