Withdraws from portal Bernard withdrew from the portal and will return to Utah for his final year of eligibility, Steve Bartle of 247 Sports reports.

Impact Bernard rushed for at least 500 yards and posted more than 250 receiving yards in back-to-back seasons with Utah, but he opted to enter the transfer portal as a graduate transfer this offseason. However, it appears he couldn't find a suitable fit and will return to Utah to compete for a depth role in the Utes' loaded running back room during the 2023 campaign.

Set to leave Utah Bernard entered the transfer portal on Wednesday, Max Olson of The Athletic reports.

Impact Bernard will look to join a new program as a graduate transfer. The 6-foot running back is a viable receiving threat, catching 34 passes for 314 yards and one touchdown to go along with 106 carries for 533 yards and five touchdowns on the ground. Bernard played in 34 games across four seasons for Utah.

Impact Despite the plethora of RB talent on Utah's roster, it appears Bernard as the starting gig locked up. His increased usage isn't simply a matter of riding the hot hand, either. Only Tavion Thomas came close to his number of carries, and the yardage wasn't even close. Granted, Bernard's numbers were bolstered by a stellar 50-yard run, but for the time being, he seems to be the better option over Thomas and T.J. Pledger.

Bernard had just 15 carries for 76 yards in 2020 with Ty Jordan taking the bulk of the backfield work. Look for Bernard to sit atop the depth chart come fall camp, but there are qualified players behind him that will push for carries.
