Entering transfer portal Brown (transfer portal) has entered the NCAA transfer portal, per Mike Farrell of MikeFarrellSports.com.

Impact Brown will re-enter the transfer portal following a single season with Charlotte. The redshirt sophomore quarterback lost the starting job to fellow signal caller Deshawn Purdie in late October and hasn't impressed in his appearances since. Brown will have two years of eligibility at his next destination.

Shut down in bench appearance Brown completed 2 of 10 passes for three yards during Thursday's 34-3 loss against Tulane. He also had three rushes for 25 yards.

Impact Brown replaced starter Deshawn Purdie in the fourth quarter of Thursday's game and struggled massively. He completed just two of his 10 passes for only three yards, although he added 25 yards on the ground. Purdie struggled against the tough Tulane defense too as he threw a pick-six and completed under 50 percent of his passes. The 49ers are leaving Thursday's blowout loss with more questions than answers at the quarterback position, but regardless of who starts after the bye, the position group is best avoided for fantasy managers.

Not starting Friday Brown will revert to backup quarterback as DeShawn Purdie will start under center Friday versus Tulane, Hunter Bailey of The Charlotte Observer reports.

Impact Brown will watch from the sidelines again after getting benched at halftime in last week's loss to Memphis. The 6-foot-3 quarterback has only been healthy for four games this season, but it appears the team doesn't believe he's been performing up to par as Purdie will get the start in Friday night's matchup.

Impact Brown started Saturday's game but after a quiet first half he was benched for Deshawn Purdie. Purdie did not play particularly well either, so it's unclear what the 49ers will do on Thursday versus Tulane.

Impact Brown threw three interceptions and fumbled once during the 49ers' game in Week 8. Despite his struggles, the 49ers' lack of better options have resorted them to using Brown again under center. There were some positives from his Week 8 performance though, including seven completions for 152 yards and two touchdowns to go with 18 carries for 67 yards.

Struggles in return Brown was 7-for-18 passing for 152 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions during Saturday's 51-17 defeat versus Navy. He also had 18 rushes for 67 yards.

Impact Brown made his first start since Week 2 Saturday after missing the last four games with a thumb injury. He struggled in his return as he failed to complete 40 percent of his passes and threw three interceptions, two of which were returned for touchdowns. He did toss two touchdowns and run for 67 yards, but his inefficiency hurt his performance and his team's. He faces a more favorable matchup Saturday at Memphis.
