Loses out on starting QB gig Zollers has lost Missouri's quarterback competition to Austin Simmons, per Eli Hoff of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Impact Zollers was reportedly battling the Ole Miss transfer Simmons for the Tigers' starting quarterback gig, but he's lost out on the job at the conclusion of Missouri's spring practice period. He showed flashes last season as a true freshman, tossing for 503 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions in limited action, but he'll have to wait a little longer to earn his first collegiate starting role. He's now likely slated to be Missouri's QB2.

Battling Simmons for starting role Zollers is in a battle with Austin Simmons for the starting quarterback role, per Pete Nakos of On3.

Impact Zollers, a former blue-chip quarterback recruit for the Tigers, saw action in eight games last season as a true freshman. He tossed for 503 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions while completing 53.4 percent of his passes, gaining valuable experience in the meantime. His opponent in the quarterback battle Simmons lost his job to Trinidad Chambliss last season after a shaky start to the year in which he produced a 4:5 touchdown-to-interception ratio. This battle could be wide open, and is likely set to rage all offseason.

In competition for starting role Zollers will be part of a four-player competition for the starting quarterback job, Cody Goodwin of 247Sports reports.

Impact Zollers appeared in seven games as a true freshman, completing 53.4 percent of his passes for 503 yards and a 4:2 TD:INT. While 2025 starter Beau Pribula has transferred out, the Tigers added Austin Simmons (Ole Miss) and Nick Evers (UConn) in the transfer portal. Those two, plus Zollers and true freshman Gavin Sidwar are all in the competition for QB1, according to head coach Eli Drinkwitz. Zollers likely has the second-best chances, behind Simmons.
