Loses QB1 battle Vezza lost the QB1 battle to Nick Poulos, who was named the starting quarterback for Ohio for Week 1 of the 2026 season, according to Pete Thamel of ESPN.com.

Impact Vezza was in a three-way competition with Nick Poulos and Levi Davis to earn the QB1 role, but Poulos was named the starter Saturday. Ohio opens its season against Nebraska on Sep. 5, and Vezza will now compete with Davis for the backup role. Vezza transferred to the Bobcats from FCS New Hampshire this winter, where he tossed for 2,673 yards, 19 touchdowns and seven interceptions in 2025.
