Out for spring practice
Jackson (undisclosed) is out for Virginia Tech's spring practice, Andy Bitter of Tech Sideline reports.
Impact
Virginia Tech recently released a report of unavailable players for the spring. Though initially without Jackson, the list includes him, according to the Hokies' head coach James Franklin. The former will prepare for next summer, which is still enough time to be healthy going into his 2026 season.

Ruled out Saturday
Hawkins (undisclosed) won't play in Saturday's game against Virginia.
Impact
Hawkins will miss VT's regular-season finale, which will be his first absence of the campaign. The senior tailback will end the 2025 campaign with 118 rushing attempts for 749 rushing yards and a touchdown. He added 12 receptions for 74 yards and a score as a receiver. Look for Terion Stewart and Jeffrey Overton to lead the Hokies' bacakfield against UVA.

Sitting out Saturday
Hawkins will not be available for Saturday's game against Virginia.
Impact
Hawkins went down with injury last week against Miami after being limited to only eight carries. This will bring Hawkins' season to a close after rushing for 749 yards and a touchdown. It's unlikely he is able to get another season of eligibility in 2026.

Tops 100 yards
Hawkins totaled 12 carries for 101 yards and reeled in their only target for negative five yards during Saturday's 34-14 defeat to Florida State.
Impact
Hawkins had handled fewer than 10 carries in four of six games leading up to his recent three-game outburst. During that three-game stretch, he had handled 21, 13 and 12 carries, respectively. Hawkins made the most of his opportunities Saturday, notching his second 100-yard rushing performance of the campaign. Despite having rushed 110 times for 677 yards (6.2 ypc) across 10 games, Hawkins has merely one rushing touchdown.

Runs wild against Cal
Hawkins had 21 carries for 167 yards during Friday's 42-34 overtime victory versus California.
Impact
Hawkins and Kyron Drones combined for over 300 rushing yards, but it was Drones who logged both of VT's rushing touchdowns. Hawkins outcarried Terion Stewart 21 to 14 and was significantly more effective with his opportunities. Hawkins doubled his previous season high of 82 rushing yards - a record he set in his most recent game. He's up to 531 rushing yards on the season.

Impresses in Week 7
Hawkins posted nine carries for 82 yards and reeled in 0 of 1 targets for zero yards during Saturday's 35-20 loss to Georgia Tech.
Impact
Hawkins outcarried Stewart nine to six in the contest, as Stewart came into the contest banged up and limited. Hawkins shined in his opportunities, averaging just over nine yards per carry and setting a season high in rushing yards. Through seven games, Hawkins has rushed 64 times for 364 yards and one touchdown while catching nine passes for 60 yards and a score.

Larger role after Stewart injury
Hawkins logged 11 carries for 48 yards and one touchdown and reeled in 0 of 1 targets for zero yards during Saturday's 30-23 loss to Wake Forest.
Impact
Hawkins has worked behind Terion Stewart (shoulder) for most of the season, but saw an expanded role Saturday after Stewart went down with an injury. Hawkins scored his first rushing touchdown of the season, and he saw double-digit touches for the third time in six games. He's now logged at least 47 yards in three straight contests and is averaging 5.1 yards per carry.

Effective on minimal touches
Hawkins tallied four carries for 47 yards and hauled in their only target for 11 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 23-21 win against North Carolina State.
Impact
Hawkins took a back seat to Terion Stewart in VT's ACC opener, with Stewart turning 15 carries into 174 yards. Still, Hawkins had a solid day, turning five touches into 58 yards and a touchdown. It'll be hard to trust Hawkins in most formats when Stewart is healthy.

Effective on 13 touches
Hawkins logged 13 carries for 79 yards and caught all two targets for 27 yards during Saturday's 38-6 win against Wofford.
Impact
Hawkins combined for 12 rushes in his last two games but saw 13 carries in a Week 4 blowout win. Although Hawkins has the most carries by a running back (40) on VT, he's posted just 187 rushing yards and has yet to find paydirt. Terion Stewart (undisclosed) missed Saturday's contest, and his return could mean fewer carries for Hawkins.

Quieted by Commodores
Hawkins posted eight rushes for 29 yards and gathered in all two targets for 10 yards during Saturday's 44-20 defeat versus Vanderbilt.
Impact
Hawkins served as the Hokies' lead back once again in Week 2, even with Braydon Bennett and Terion Steward available, cementing himself as Virginia Tech's true RB1. However, the Virginia Tech offense struggled against Vanderbilt, leaving few opportunities for Hawkins to excel. Through two games, Hawkins has turned 23 carries into 87 yards (3.8 yards per carry)

Leading rusher in opener
Hawkins recorded 15 carries for 58 yards and hauled in 0 of 1 targets for zero yards during Sunday's 24-11 loss versus South Carolina.
Impact
Hawkins benefited from the absences of Terion Stewart (foot) and Braydon Bennett (knee), logging 10 more carries than any other Hokie running back. Hawkins looks to be headed toward a committee once Stewart and Bennett are available, but for now, he's got a firm hold on the No. 1 role. Hawkins transferred to Virginia Tech from Central Missouri.

Listed as a co-starter
Hawkins is listed as a co-starter with Terrion Stewart, per Andy Bitter of Tech Sidelines.
Impact
Hawkins is expected to see plenty of carries this fall and could even be the Hokies' top tailback in the opener against South Carolina on August 31. Still, he's sharing the top running back spot with Bowling Green transfer Terrion Stewart for now. Both backs should see plenty of action, but Hawkins has gotten plenty of rave reviews this offseason after transferring over from Central Missouri. One back will likely carve out a lead role, but for now, this is a 1A, 1B situation.

Looks to be among duo of backs
Hawkins and Terion Stewart look to be penciled in for carries early in the season, Evan Watkins of 247Sports reports.
Impact
Hawkins was among a crew of four backs vying for regular run this fall, competing with the likes of Terion Stewart, Jeremiah Coney and Brayden Bennett. It appears Stewart and Hawkins have emerged from the pile, though head coach Brent Pry suggested there could be a rotation of up to three backs. It remains to be seen exactly how the carries will be split, but Hawkins should at least see a share of them.
