The 49ers Should Draft Syracuse RB LeQuint Allen in Round 4 The 49ers don't need just any running back. They need a specific kind of running back.
Declares for NFL Draft Allen announced his declaration for the 2025 NFL Draft on Thursday.
Impact Allen will forgo his senior year of collegiate eligibility. The running back began playing college football during Syracuse's 2022 season, when he logged one touchdown each as a rusher, receiver and passer. 2023 was his breakout year, in which Allen recorded 245 carries for 1,064 yards and 10 total touchdowns. Yet somehow, 2024 was easily his best year. Despite logging fewer carries and rushing yards this year, he improved everywhere else. Allen recorded 4.5 yards per carry, 1,530 all-purpose yards and 20 total touchdowns. All that output is expected to earn him a valuable draft selection.

Closes 2024 on high note Allen totaled 17 rushes for 120 yards and two touchdowns and hauled in 3 of 6 targets for 45 yards and one touchdown during Friday's 52-35 win over Washington State.
Impact Allen came to life from Week 10 on, rushing 119 times for 540 yards and 12 touchdowns over the final six contests. He finished the year with 228 carries for 1,021 yards and 16 rushing scores while adding 64 catches for 529 yards and four receiving scores. Aside from the rushing attempts and yards, the remaining stat categories were all career-best marks, and the junior is a candidate for early entry into the 2025 NFL Draft class. If he decides to return, Allen would have another huge season in tow for the Orange.

Does damage by air and ground Allen posted 22 rushes for 82 yards and two touchdowns and reeled in 6 of 7 targets for 61 yards during Saturday's 42-38 win against Miami (FL).
Impact Allen was once again an all-purpose player for the Orange, eclipsing the 100 total yards mark for the ninth time this season. Allen's six receptions proved enormous on a day where he only averaged 3.7 yards-per-carry. The tailback has been a versatile weapon all season, and he'll now need to decide if he plans to suit up for Syracuse's bowl game.

Tough sledding on ground Allen posted 20 rushes for 58 yards and one touchdown and reeled in 5 of 7 targets for 30 yards during Saturday's 31-24 win against Connecticut.
Impact Allen couldn't run the football with any efficiency against Connecticut, but he did manage to haul in five receptions to help salvage his fantasy performance. The tailback has now scored in four straight games, and he'll look to keep that going against Miami in Week 14.

Impact Given how quickly Syracuse went down against Pittsburgh, the Orange didn't exactly have time to establish their ground game. When they tried, it went nowhere, as evidenced by Allen's just over two yards-per-carry. He did offer value as a receiver, however, and his six catches were his second-highest total on the year.

Impact Allen's two scores on the ground were certainly big, but perhaps the bigger story here as that the tailback remains heavily involved as a receiver. He's now caught 16 passes over the past two games, and his 11 targets against UNLV were a season high. Not only is he becoming an excellent security blanket out of the backfield for quarterback Kyle McCord, he's turned that into great production as a pass-catcher. Allen will look to keep it up next week against a lack-luster NC State defense.
