Impact Shanks was limited to nine receptions for 101 yards and one touchdown this past fall with Arkansas. However, in 2024, the wideout caught 62 passes for 656 yards and six touchdowns with UAB. He should have two years of eligibility to play with in Winston-Salem.

Shanks' high volume combined with his explosive ceiling makes him a valuable option down the stretch.

Impact Shanks was simply fantastic in Saturday's dominant win over Tulsa. On the opening play of the second quarter he scored a 67-yard touchdown, then later in the quarter returned a punt for a touchdown -- his second of the season -- to give the Blazers a dominant 38-0 lead. He wasn't done, as he scored touchdowns of 34 yards and 48 yards in the third quarter, capping off a career day. He saw seven targets in his third straight game and set career highs in receiving yards (153) rushing yards (19) and punt return yards (139). Although these types of performances will not be the norm for Shanks, it's clear that his future is very bright.

Impact Although Shanks did not quite follow up his elite performance last Saturday, he maintained the high volume. He caught six of those passes for a measly 36 yards, but the volume he has received in the last two games is enticing. If Kitna starts again after the bye week, Shanks could be a beneficiary once again.

He appeared in four games last season as a true freshman but did not record any stats on offense and was ultimately redshirted. While Amare Thomas was expected to be the clear No. 1 option for Jacob Zeno, Shanks' excellent start to the season has thrown some doubt into that notion. Saturday's more difficult outing at Louisiana-Monroe will shine some light on whether this was a one-off performance or if Shanks has truly carved out a sizable portion of the Blazers' passing game.
