Impact Salter had a solid season for the Flames in 2024, tossing for 1,886 yards, 15 touchdowns and six interceptions while completing 56.3 percent of his passes. He also ran for 114 yards and seven touchdowns. The dual-threat quarterback should have plenty of suitors in the portal, and Salter himself should have one year of eligibility remaining.

Disastrous day at SHSU Salter went 12-for-35 for 83 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions against Sam Houston State on Friday. He also ran three times for 23 yards and a score.

Impact Oof. It's been a disappointing year for Salter after he tore it up in 2023, but he saved the worst for last. Salter's bad day eliminated the Flames from conference title contention and all that's left now is a bowl game.

Touchdown two ways Smith went 6-for-11 for 108 yards and a touchdown against WKU on Saturday and ran 11 times for 6 yards and a touchdown.

Impact Liberty has essentially given up on Salter throwing the ball this season, as this is his third game in a row with under 20 passing attempts. The Flames are now trying to win solely through running the ball, but to that end if they beat Sam Houston next week they will be back in the conference title game.

Two TDs, two turnovers Salter went 9-for-16 for 114 yards and an interception against UMass on Saturday. He ran 13 times for 58 yards and two touchdowns, but also lost a fumble.

Impact At first, Salter was merely struggling to live up to the lofty numbers he posted in 2023. Now, nine games into the 2024 campaign, it is clear he has simply regressed as both a passer and rusher. He has not thrown for over 250 yards or rushed for over 100 yards in a game, and while he has five rushing scores, he's also lost five fumbles.

Totals three touchdowns Salter went 11-for-15 for 154 yards and two touchdowns against MTSU on Saturday. He also ran nine times for 94 yards and a score, but lost a fumble.

Impact Well, had Salter not bounced back against one of the worst defenses in the FBS, that would have been a real concern. Even so, this is the third time in four games Salter has had under 200 yards passing, and he's now lost four fumbles on the campaign.

Worst game of season Salter went 12-for-25 for 147 yards, one touchdown, and one interception against JSU on Wednesday. He also ran 17 times for 68 yards.

Impact Salter fumbled twice, but was fortunate that the Flames fell on both of them. Liberty just suffered a massive upset to Kennesaw State, but Salter did not rebound. Completing 48-percent of your passes and throwing for under 150 yards doesn't cut it, and Salter's really taken a step back from 2023's remarkable campaign.

OCTOBER 31 • ROTOWIRE

Not responsible for upset loss Salter went 22-for-40 for 206 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception against Kennesaw State on Wednesday. He also ran nine times for 87 yards.

Impact The winless Owls upset the undefeated Flames, but Salter fulfilled his role. His rushing has ticked up recently, as he has totaled 147 yards and two touchdowns over his last two games.

OCTOBER 24 • ROTOWIRE

Rushes for two TDs Salter went 9-for-16 for 125 yards against FIU on Tuesday. He also ran 12 times for 60 yards and two scores.

Impact Those rushing numbers are quite good, though all in all Salter has not kept pace with what he did in 2023. Last year, Salter was a star with over 2,800 passing yards and over 1,000 rushing yards. This season, though five games he has 1,074 passing yards and a mere 191 rushing yards.

Impact Salter and the rest of Liberty's program will get an extended bye week after their matchup with App State was called off due to weather conditions surrounding Hurricane Helene. The 6-foot-1 junior, who has thrown for 949 yards (66-of-103), seven touchdowns and one interception across four outings this season, adding on 131 yards on the ground, will lead the Flames into battle against FIU on Oct. 8, giving the team effectively three weeks off from football. Liberty's matchup against Appalachian State will not be rescheduled.

Breaks through...sorta Salter went 19-for-32 for 223 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception against ECU on Saturday. He also ran for 36 yards on 12 attempts but fumbled twice, losing one.

Impact You see a quarterback throw four touchdowns and it is hard to be disappointed, but the concerns about Salter after last years remarkable campaign remain. He hasn't topped 256 passing yards in a game, and on the ground he's been a zero after rushing for 1,089 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2023. Salter has not hit 50 rushing yards yet in a game, he has zero rushing scores, and he's already lost three fumbles.

Impact Well...it's been three games now. The opponents have all been easy. Salter was a star last season, a top fantasy performer. This year, he has as many turnovers as touchdowns. The utter lack of rushing is really concerning. Last season Salter ran for over 1,000 yards with 12 touchdowns. This year he has 95 yards on 28 attempts without a single score.

Throws two TDs Salter went 16-for-23 for 242 yards and two touchdowns against Campbell on Saturday. He also ran nine times for 48 yards but lost a fumble.

Impact It took the Liberty offense a bit to get going, but this game featured a weather delay and was not played in the best of conditions. Salter did enough to lead the Flames to a win while putting up respectable numbers. He threw for 32 touchdowns while running for 12 last season as one of the best fantasy quarterbacks in college football. There's no reason to worry.
