Impact Cobbs had been in the mix to be UTSA's next starting running back but this injury likely takes him out of the equation for this season. Tye Edwards and B.J. Daniels now stand to see increased opportunity in the UTSA backfield.

Sees first-team reps in spring Cobbs was working with the first-team offense during the opening spring practice session Monday, JJ Perez of 247Sports.com reports.

Impact UTSA is replacing workhorse Sincere McCormick and veteran backup Brenden Brady, so 67 percent of the carries are up for grabs. Cobbs has played sparingly through his first two seasons with 14 carries for 74 yards and a touchdown. He appears to have an early edge on playing time but again, there is the vast majority of the offseason still to go for him to solidify that role. Per Perez, junior college transfer Tye Edwards was also in the mix with the first team during Monday's practice. Regardless, Cobbs needs to be on the radar in deeper formats as spring practices get into full swing.

Impact Cobbs left the First Responder Bowl last season due to injury but appears to be healthy for fall camp. He turned in 11 carries for 56 yards and a touchdown in 2020 and could see occasional looks again this year. However, Sincere McCormick figures to head the Roadrunners' backfield again.
