GAME LOG

Unable to continue post-injury Johnson suffered a hand injury during Syracuse's game Thursday at Pittsburgh, Adam Hipsky of WAER Sports reports.
Impact During the Syracuse-Pittsburgh game, Johnson logged six rushing attempts. He also recorded four receptions (on as many targets) for 27 yards. But because of his subsequent injury, the running back required a locker-room visit that ultimately indicates why he will be questionable before Syracuse's next matchup Week 5 at UConn. For its remainder, Johnson did not log any carries or targets.

Finds end zone in home loss Johnson notched 15 rushes for 46 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 21-18 loss to California.
Impact Johnson saw the bulk of the carries once Tylik Hill (leg) went down with an apparent leg injury early in the game. It was Johnson and Shavane Anderson Jr. handling a majority of the backfield touches. Johnson had slightly better success with 3.1 yards per carry and the TD, while Anderson had nine carries and just 2.0 YPC. It's a short week, with a trip to Pittsburgh on Thursday, so if Hill cannot go, Johnson might see double-digit carries again.
SEPTEMBER 12 • ROTOWIRE
Good to go for Week 2 Johnson (ankle) is not listed on the injury report for Saturday's game against California.
Impact Johnson will suit up Saturday after a report indicated that he was expected to play. The running back is projected to work behind Tylik Hill and Matt Outten, but he should see some meaningful carries after coming off a season at LSU in which he rushed for 155 yards on 41 attempts.
SEPTEMBER 9 • ROTOWIRE
Should be able to play Week 2 Johnson (ankle) should be able to play in Saturday's game against California, Michael McAllister of 247Sports.com reports.
Impact An ankle injury prevented Johnson from playing in Week 1, when Syracuse handled non-FBS team New Hampshire, which would have been the easiest way for him to begin his Orange career. Instead, his earliest chance comes next Saturday against California, a fellow ACC team. The best part of Johnson's previous experience is that it comes from a top program, LSU, whose 2025 season includes his 200-plus all-purpose yards and multiple touchdowns.
SEPTEMBER 7 • ROTOWIRE
Out for Week 1 Johnson (ankle) is out for Saturday's game against New Hampshire, Harris Pemberton of The Daily Orange reports.
Impact As expected, Johnson will not be ready for Syracuse's regular-season opener, opening up an opportunity for other running backs further down the Orange's depth chart. The junior's next chance to return comes on Sept. 12 in ACC action against California.
SEPTEMBER 5 • ROTOWIRE
Expected to miss opener Johnson (ankle) is expected to miss Syracuse's season opener against New Hampshire, Javon Edmonds of Syracuse.com reports.
Impact Johnson was absent from Syracuse's initial depth chart, potentially due to his ankle injury. The running back is now expected to miss Week 1, allowing Matt Outten to step up in the backfield. He will look to recover in time for the team's next game on Sept. 12 against California.
SEPTEMBER 1 • ROTOWIRE
Absent from depth chart Johnson (undisclosed) is dealing with an injury and not on Syracuse's initial depth chart, Chris Carlson of The Syracuse Post-Standard reports.
Impact Johnson looked to be a contributor at the very least this season, but he's now banged up from an injury that could keep him sidelined. It's unknown now if he'll even be active for Saturday's matchup against New Hampshire. The 6-foot running back rushed 41 times for 155 yards and two touchdowns last year at LSU.
AUGUST 31 • ROTOWIRE
Commits to Syracuse Johnson has committed to Syracuse, Michael McAllister of 247Sports.com reports.
Impact During the LSU team's 2025 season, Johnson logged 41 rushing attempts for 155 yards and two touchdowns. They earned his most recent recruitment, and for Syracuse, he is a candidate for an improved role.

Set to play in Texas Bowl Johnson (transfer portal) will play in the Texas Bowl, per his personal X account.
Impact Johnson, who already announced his intention to enter the transfer portal, said that he will play in the bowl game, adding that he wants to finish the season off right with his teammates. He's rushed 38 times for 151 yards and two touchdowns and caught 17 passes for 72 yards through 12 games this season, so he figures to play a minor role versus Houston.

Entering transfer portal Johnson is entering the NCAA's transfer portal, Pete Nakos of On3 reports.
Impact As a four-star recruit, Johnson enrolled at LSU. While part of the Tigers, he logged 45 rushing attempts for 165 yards and two touchdowns. Johnson's injury status becomes questionable for the Texas Bowl scheduled between LSU and Houston on Dec. 27.
DECEMBER 10, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
May serve as emergency QB LSU interim coach Frank Wilson said Monday that Johnson is the team's emergency quarterback going into Saturday against Western Kentucky, Cory Diaz of The Daily Advertiser reports.
Impact Garrett Nussmeier (abdomen) may be out for Week 13, and Michael Van Buren could use another backup behind him should their injured teammate be unable to play. This is where Johnson enters the equation despite his main position being running back. For 2025, he has a 14-yard pass on his lone attempt.

Big day in relief Johnson logged eight carries for 43 yards and two touchdowns and reeled in their only target for 14 yards during Saturday's 56-10 win versus Southeastern Louisiana.
Impact Johnson saw some more work in this one as lead back Caden Durham went down with an ankle injury and the Tigers beat up on the FCS opponent. Depending on the status of Durham, Johnson could see some more work in the coming weeks.

Now listed as quarterback Johnson is listed as a quarterback on LSU's 2025 football roster.
Impact Johnson started his career in Baton Rouge as a safety before switching to running back. Now, the versatile athlete is listed as a quarterback, meaning he joins a position group that already includes Garrett Nussmeier, Michael Van Buren and Colin Hurley. The Lafayette native tallied seven carries for 14 yards last season and caught five passes for 22 yards and a score. He has yet to throw a pass in his collegiate career.
