GAME LOG

Three total scores in win Johnson was 4-for-4 passing for 104 yards and two touchdowns during Friday's 42-21 victory versus Colorado State. He also had 10 rushes for 22 yards with another touchdown.
Impact Johnson didn't throw the ball often Friday, though he made his opportunities count, completing all four of his attempts, including a pair of touchdown passes to tight end Bruin Fleischmann, while adding a rushing score that would extend Air Force's lead to 28-14 in the third quarter. Johnson started the season as the Falcons' primary quarterback, though he was replaced by Liam Szarka (arm) after completing nine of 18 pass attempts for 224 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in three contests. With Szarka sidelined, Johnson completed 7-of-10 passes for 150 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in his last two games while splitting work with Kemper Hodges.

Starting season finale Johnson is starting Friday's game against Colorado State, Brent Briggeman of The Colorado Springs Gazette reports.
Impact Johnson and Kemper Hodges split time last week, and neither played particularly well. Air Force will turn to Johnson to start the team's season finale, though the QB will probably have a short leash.

Limited action in loss Johnson was 3-for-6 passing for 46 yards and one interception during Saturday's 20-3 loss to New Mexico. He also had seven rushes for 13 yards.
Impact Johnson saw his first snaps since Week 4, and they weren't all that productive as he tossed an interception and only completed half of his passes. De facto starter Kemper Hodges didn't play much better, completing just one of five passes, and with Liam Szarka (arm) unavailable, quarterback play has left a lot to be desired for Air Force.

Off injury report Johnson (undisclosed) is off the injury report for Saturday's game against UNLV.
Impact Johnson has been unable to go the last two weeks but will be available to back up Liam Szarka. Szarka began the season behind Johnson but has thrived as the starter with Johnson sidelined. Should Szarka go down, Johnson would figure to take over the QB1 role once again.

Questionable for Saturday's contest Johnson (undisclosed) is questionable for Saturday's game versus Hawai'i.
Impact Johnson popped up on the injury report Saturday and is officially questionable with an undisclosed injury. He played significant snaps across the first two games of the season, but played less in Week 4 versus Boise State with starter Liam Stark playing very well.

Struggles in loss Johnson was 5-for-9 passing for 112 yards and an interception during Saturday's 49-30 defeat against Utah State. He also had 12 rushes for 25 yards.
Impact It was a tough game overall for Johnson, who threw an interception while fumbling the ball twice, losing one. Backup Liam Szarka would ultimately split work with Johnson later in the contest. It remains to be seen who'll start under center next week when the Falcons host Boise State.

Throws two touchdowns in win Johnson was 4-for-7 passing for 112 yards and two touchdowns during Saturday's 49-13 victory against Bucknell.
Impact It was a solid start to the season for Johnson, who didn't throw more than six passes in any of his five appearances last year. The majority of the junior's production came on two plays -- a 40-yard touchdown to Quin Smith in the first quarter and a 62-yard score to Cade Harris in the second. While it was an encouraging debut overall for Johnson, most of his production this season will likely come on the ground -- he rushed for 94 yards on 14 attempts in 2024.

Starting as expected Johnson is the starting quarterback for Week 1 against Bucknell on Saturday, Brent Briggeman of The Colorado Springs Gazette reports.
Impact As expected after taking reps with the starters during warmups, Johnson gets the nod under center over Liam Szarka. Johnson appeared in five games for Air Force in 2024, completing only 42.9 percent of his throws for 126 yards and a 1:3 TD:INT.

Taking starter reps in warmups Johnson was seen taking reps with the starters in warmups ahead of Saturday's game against Bucknell, according to Brent Briggeman of The Colorado Springs Gazette.
Impact Johnson has been in an ongoing battle with Liam Szarka for the starting role under center, but based on recent developments, the former seems in a good position to get the nod. Johnson appeared in five games for Air Force in 2024, completing only 42.9 percent of his throws for 126 yards and a 1:3 TD:INT.
AUGUST 30, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Listed as co-starter for opener Johnson is listed as the co-starter at quarterback alongside Liam Szarka, according to Mike Bainbridge of Athlon Sports.
Impact It's unclear who will carry Air Force under center in the season opener, with Johnson and Szarka still listed as co-starters. Johnson worked with the first-team offense during spring ball and fall camp, though, so he might have the upper hand with only a few days left before the start of the campaign.

Sees first-team reps in spring ball Johnson has been working with the first-team offense during spring workouts, Brent Briggeman of The Gazette reports.
Impact Johnson has been splitting first-team reps with fellow sophomore Liam Szarka as Quentin Hayes (not injury related) is not participating in spring practices. The 6-foot-2 sophomore quarterback appeared in five games last season, throwing for 126 yards (6-of-14), one touchdown and three interceptions, adding on 14 carries for 94 yards on the ground. The team mentioned that they are confident in Johnson and Szarka leading the team into battle this fall.
FEBRUARY 25, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Throws touchdown Saturday Johnson was 2-for-4 passing for 70 yards and a touchdown during Saturday's 52-37 loss to New Mexico. He also had four rushes for 49 yards.
Impact After John Busha was benched, Johnson and Quentin Hayes split starting duties against New Mexico. The sophomore Johnson completed the Falcons' lone touchdown pass, a 39-yard completion to Quin Smith late in the fourth quarter. It appears that Smith, Hayes and Busha could all see action under center in Week 8 against Colorado State.
