Impact Notre Dame blew the doors off Syracuse, and Filardi had a tough time dissecting the Fighting Irish defense. The true freshman quarterback threw three interceptions, two of which were brought back for a touchdown. If there's any silver lining from Filardi's start, it's that he offered some upside as a rusher and even scored his first career rushing touchdown. As a result, he was replaced mid-game by Filardi, who performed well enough to be considered the Orange's primary quarterback for Week 13. Considering Collins threw a pair of interceptions, the Orange may go back to Filardi next time out, but right now, that's speculation.

Impact Syracuse has struggled to find a quality replacement for starting quarterback Steve Angeli (Achilles), and the Orange hoped Filardi would provide some answers Friday night. The true freshman struggled greatly in what was his first extended action at the college level, completing just 22 percent of his passes. He led just one scoring drive - a 13-play, 50-yard drive that ended in a field goal - but all of the Orange's yardage on that drive came on the ground as Filardi went 0-for-4. While Filardi showed some rushing ability, his lackluster passing performance could prompt Syracuse to look elsewhere in Week 11.

Impact Filardi, a true freshman, will get his first career start on Halloween night. The New York native was rather unheralded as a recruit, but now he'll get thrust into the limelight against the Tar Heels. He takes over the starting gig from Rickie Collins, who's struggled this season to the tune of 54.5 percent completion and a 6/8 touchdown-to-interception ratio.
