College football Week 4 preview: Can anyone stop Ohio State freshman Jeremiah Smith?

Scores 70-yard TD in Week 2 Smith logged five receptions (on six targets) for 119 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 56-0 victory over Western Michigan.

Impact Smith continued to build on his already transcendent debut season with the Buckeyes. The true freshman's big Week 2 highlight came in the first quarter when he caught a pass over the middle before turning upfield for a 70-yard sprint to the end zone. Smith has now led the Buckeyes in receiving yards in each of his first two games with the program, totaling 11 catches (on 15 targets) for 211 yards and three touchdowns. Returning senior wideout Emeka Egbuka saw his target share inrcease Week 2 with five catches (on eight targets) for 98 yards. Yet, Smith's immediate stardom seems to have already vaulted him into clear WR1 status for the Buckeyes. He and the rest of the team should continue to roll when they next play versus Marshall on Saturday, Sept. 21.

Impact Smith lived up to the massive the expectations as one of the most highly-touted wide receiver recruits in recent memory. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound true freshman led the Buckeyes' receiving corps with highs in catches, targets and yards, and he scored each of the team's first two touchdowns during his collegiate debut. Smith showcased his immense talent early in the second half when he snagged a 45-yard pass with one hand as he slid down to the Akron 1-yard line. He also knocked his way into the record books early, as Smith became the first Buckeye since Ted Ginn Jr. in 2006 to score two receiving touchdowns in the first half of an opener. Smith's head-turning debut likely indicates that he'll continue serving as the No. 1 wideout for this extremely talented Buckeyes offense moving forward. He should have a chance to put up explosive numbers once again vesus Western Michigan in Week 2.
