Impact Virginia Tech has high hopes for Payoute, as offensive coordinator Brad Cornelson said Wednesday, "We expect big things out of him. He's just been a guy that's continually progressed." Payoute missed this past season with an injury suffered in fall camp. Once healthy, Payoute will be a name to watch in the Virginia Tech receiving corps.

Makes strides in offseason Coach Justin Fuente indicated Friday that Payoute has "grown leaps and bounds" since the 2019 campaign, Andy Bitter of The Athletic reports.

Impact Payoute minimally impacted the Hokies' offense in 2019, failing to record a stat while appearing in only one game. A four-star receiver, Payoute has the pedigree of a wideout who could contribute early in his career, so he may be one to look out for if the redshirt freshman can keep the positives rolling during camp.
