The now junior signal-caller began the 2021 season as the team's starting quarterback before losing this job to Austin Aune after four games. Ruder finished last year with 571 passing yards and a 54.1 percent completion percentage to go along with a 3:5 TD:INT ratio, and he figures to slot in as North Texas' third-string passer behind Aune and Grant Gunnell in 2022.

Impact Ruder began the 2021 season as the Mean Green's starting quarterback for the first four weeks before moving to a backup role behind Austin Aune. Ruder will likely have a chance to compete with Aune as well as quarterbacks JD Head and Stone Earle for the starting job heading into the 2022 season.

Impact The Mean Green let Ruder air it out, and he definitely racked up the attempts and yards. However, Ruder now has two touchdowns against four picks in 2021, and the defenses have not been tough either. He could lose the starting job soon.
