Impact Hesson started under center for the RedHawks in the eventual win, but he was replaced by redshirt freshman Thomas Gotkowski after two drives. Hesson was unable to get things going on the passing side in his limited opportunities, but the team's switch did deliver an eventual win. The redshirt senior will now likely be relegated to backup duties once again, even after getting a big opening with QB1 Dequan Finn leaving the program.

Slated to assume starting role Hesson is slated to be the RedHawks' quarterback over the final two games of the season in the wake of Dequan Finn's reported departure, per Steve Helwick of Hustle Belt.

Impact Finn is no longer part of Miami (OH)'s football program, departing to focus on preparing for any potential shot to play at the next level. That leaves Hesson likely with the reins at quarterback for the RedHawks. He struggled mightily in his second start of the season last week against Toledo, tossing for 147 yards and three interceptions on 11-of-38 passing. He had a solid outing in his first start of the year back in September with two touchdowns and 208 yards, but that was against FCS Lindenwood.

Impact Hesson recorded his second start of the season with QB1 Dequan Finn (undisclosed) sidelined, but he struggled completely as a passer. The backup quarterback completed just 29 percent of his passing attempts, and he tossed three interceptions throughout the blowout. It's unknown if Finn will be back next week, but Hesson should have no problem keeping the RedHawks competitive if he needs to fill in again at Northern Illinois.
