Headed to Evanston Sawchuk will transfer to Northwestern, per Chris Hummer of 247Sports.com.
Impact Sawchuk spent the 2025 season at Florida State after spending the first three years of his career in Norman with the Sooners. He was productive in a rotational role this past fall for the Seminoles, totaling 607 yards and nine touchdowns, and he's had a largely productive career, amassing 1,714 total yards and 20 touchdowns during his career. He'll have one more season of eligibility remaining with the Wildcats.

Entering transfer portal Sawchuk plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, per On3.com.
Impact Sawchuk will enter the portal following a single year with Florida State. The 5-foot-11 running back ran for 486 yards and eight touchdowns on 4.5 YPC across 12 games for the Seminoles this past season while adding 13 receptions for 121 yards and a score through the air as well. He will retain a single year of eligibility at his next destination.

Shut down by Gators Sawchuk posted four carries for seven yards and caught 1 of 2 targets for seven yards during Saturday's 40-21 defeat versus Florida.
Impact Florida completely shut down the running game for Florida State's tailbacks -- quarterback Tommy Castellanos was the only player who managed to get it going on the ground. Sawchuk was an afterthought with just four carries. It was a strange season for the Oklahoma transfer and a strange season for the Seminoles overall. Sawchuk finished with 486 rushing yards and four touchdowns, but most of that production came at the beginning of the season and he was wildly inconsistent. The tailback has one more year of eligibility remaining, and now must decide whether to spend it in Tallahassee or elsewhere.

Will veteran running back Gavin Sawchuk make a difference against the Gators? Will this finally be the game for Gavin Sawchuk?

Leading rusher in loss Sawchuk recorded eight rushes for 35 yards and gathered in their only target for five yards during Friday's 21-11 loss to North Carolina State.
Impact Sawchuk was the Seminoles' leading rusher against NC State, but that's not saying much, as he only tallied 35 yards on eight carriers. Florida State's backfield has been a committee situation this season that's fluctuated week in and week out. With how putrid this offense has been as of late, and with zero clarity in terms of a pecking order, this Seminoles' backfield is best avoided for fantasy purposes.
NOVEMBER 24, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Hardly involved in win Sawchuk recorded three rushes for 11 yards and gathered in 0 of 1 targets for zero yards during Saturday's 34-14 win over Virginia Tech.
Impact Sawchuk took a back seat to both Ousmane Kromah and Samuel Singleton, as both of the latter backs recorded double-digit carries. Sawchuk looked like the Seminoles' top ball-carrier earlier in the season, but that hasn't been the case in recent weeks as he has just 10 carries over his last three games. Meanwhile, Singleton appears to have secured the lead back role.
NOVEMBER 17, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Not involved at all Sawchuk had one carry for one yard and reeled in 2 of 3 targets for seven yards during Saturday's 24-10 loss versus Clemson.
Impact Florida State hardly ran the ball in yet another rough loss, this time at the hands of Clemson, but when it did, it wasn't to its leading ball-carrier Sawchuk. Samuel Singleton led the way with six carries, while Ousmane Kromah and Jaylin Lucas both out-gained Sawchuk. Despite scoring two touchdowns last week, he's been much less involved on the ground recently. This entire Florida State offense should largely be avoided for Fantasy purposes.
NOVEMBER 10, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Scores twice on six carries Sawchuk compiled six carries for 10 yards and two touchdowns and hauled in 0 of 1 targets for zero yards during Saturday's 42-7 win against Wake Forest.
Impact With Florida State easily handling business against the Demon Deacons, starting tailbak Gavin Sawchuk took a back seat with only six carries. He still posted a respectable outing fantasy-wise as he scored twice, but Samuel Singleton took the majority of the carries for the Seminoles as Wake Forest offered little resistance all game. Week 11 against Clemson should be a much tighter game, meaning Sawchuk should resume his usual workload.

70 yards not enough Sawchuk recorded 20 rushes for 70 yards and caught all two targets for one yard during Saturday's 20-13 loss to Stanford.
Impact Sawchuk remains the unquestioned top dog in the Florida State backfield, as he easily paced the team with 20 carries. The problem is he's not turning that into production on a consistent enough basis for fantasy managers to trust. He's been held out of the end zone for three straight games and has yet to hit the 100-yard mark this season. Florida State's offense looks like one to be avoided if at all possible at the moment.

Leading rusher in loss Sawchuk recorded 14 carries for 71 yards and gathered in their only target for 16 yards during Saturday's 34-31 loss versus Pittsburgh.
Impact Sawchuk once again led the way in the Seminoles' backfield, with a team-high 14 carries and 71 yards. Ousmane Kromah and Caziah Holmes also got saw seven and ten carries, respectively, but Sawchuk continues to be the lead back in the absence of Roydell Williams. Florida State's defense has let a lot to be desired, in turn capping the potential of its running game given that the 'Noles frequently have to chase points, but a Week 8 clash against lowly Stanford should help right the ship.

Top ball-carrier again in defeat Sawchuk compiled 11 carries for 47 yards and gathered in all three targets for 25 yards during Saturday's 28-22 defeat versus Miami (FL).
Impact Sawchuk was once again Florida State's top option in the backfield, even with the return of Roydell Williams, who clearly wasn't himself as he logged just one carry. The Seminoles played catch-up for most of the game, which certainly limited Sawchuk's potential involvement. Still, he proved that he's the top option for Florida State without a fully healthy Williams, and that should continue against Pitt in Week 7.

Leading rusher in loss Sawchuk accrued 17 carries for 74 yards and one touchdown and caught 1 of 2 targets for four yards during Friday's 46-38 overtime defeat to Virginia.
Impact Sawchuk was the Seminoles' top ball-carrier once again in the absence of Roydell Williams, and he put together a solid evening. Though he struggled to find big chunks of yardage, he found the end zone again for his seventh score of the season. Williams is in line to possibly return against the Hurricanes, but Sawchuk has established himself as a primary option in this backfield as well and should continue to see some action even when the starter Williams returns.

Leading rusher in blowout Sawchuk compiled 11 carries for 97 yards and two touchdowns during Saturday's 66-10 victory against Kent State.
Impact Sawchuk tallied the most carries for the Seminoles and in turn finished with the most rushing yards. Florida State racked up an astounding 498 rushing yards against the hapless Golden Flashes, with Sawchuk and Samuel Singleton leading the way in the absence of Roydell Williams. Sawchuk now has at least one touchdown in every game with six total through three contests. Regardless of who is healthy in the Seminoles' backfield, he should find a way to factor in week in and week out.

Scores twice on ground Sawchuk had eight rushes for 35 yards and two touchdowns and hauled in their only target for 53 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 77-3 win against East Texas A&M.
Impact Sawchuk only had eight carries, but that was all he needed to find the end zone twice in an easy blowout win over East Texas A&M. Florida State played eight tailbacks when all was said and done, and had the Seminoles kept feeding Sawchuk, he could've posted a much more impressive stat-line. He'll continue to be the go-to-guy in the absence of Roydell Williams.
