Impact Payne logged double-digit carries for the first time this season and delivered a 100-yard game. The senior tailback has been buried behind A.J. Turner and Jordan Houston on the depth chart for most of the season but it seems as though he's etched out a steady role in the backfield. He's turned 45 carries into 236 yards and five touchdowns this season.

Impact It took the last game of Marshall's 2023 season, but Payne finished that year with at least one touchdown. While he dipped in that category, a lot of his other numbers were better compared to past seasons. As a serviceable rusher and receiver, Payne finished 2023 with more than 450 scrimmage yards, the first time he has achieved said feat in his collegiate career.

While Payne neared six yards per carry, it's expected that Rasheen Ali will regain the No. 1 role for Marshall's bowl game considering Ali's handled 203 carries on the year compared to Payne's 72.

Struggles as lead back Payne rushed 20 times for 62 yards during Thursday's 20-9 loss to James Madison. He also caught four passes for 29 yards.

Impact Payne stepped into lead back duties with Rasheen Ali (undisclosed) sidelined for the contest and was the only running back to see a carry. While he wasn't able to capitalize on the uptick in carries, he ended up tying for the team high in receptions with four and finished the contest with 91 yards from scrimmage.
