Goes for 100 yards Payne notched 13 rushes for 104 yards and one touchdown and hauled in their only target for negative three yards during Saturday's 37-3 victory against Southern Miss.

Impact Payne logged double-digit carries for the first time this season and delivered a 100-yard game. The senior tailback has been buried behind A.J. Turner and Jordan Houston on the depth chart for most of the season but it seems as though he's etched out a steady role in the backfield. He's turned 45 carries into 236 yards and five touchdowns this season.

Scores twice on eight carries Payne totaled eight carries for 51 yards and two touchdowns during Saturday's 28-23 victory versus Louisiana-Monroe.

Impact Payne ranked third on Marshall in rushing attempts, but he tallied the second most yards and scored a pair of touchdowns. In his previous four appearances, Payne totaled 26 rushing yards on nine carries. He has 132 rushing yards and four touchdowns on the year.

Payne appears to be Marshall's goal-line back but there aren't enough touches for him to enter fantasy relevance.

Finally records touchdown Payne compiled 11 rushes for 34 yards and one touchdown and caught their only target for five yards during Tuesday's 35-17 defeat against Texas-San Antonio.

Impact It took the last game of Marshall's 2023 season, but Payne finished that year with at least one touchdown. While he dipped in that category, a lot of his other numbers were better compared to past seasons. As a serviceable rusher and receiver, Payne finished 2023 with more than 450 scrimmage yards, the first time he has achieved said feat in his collegiate career.

Surprisingly acts as featured back Payne recorded 19 rushes for 113 yards and caught all two targets for five yards during Saturday's 35-21 win versus Arkansas State.

Impact After seeing no more than three carries in each of his last four games, Payne came out of nowhere and led the Marshall backfield with 19 carries. While Payne neared six yards per carry, it's expected that Rasheen Ali will regain the No. 1 role for Marshall's bowl game considering Ali's handled 203 carries on the year compared to Payne's 72.

Struggles as lead back Payne rushed 20 times for 62 yards during Thursday's 20-9 loss to James Madison. He also caught four passes for 29 yards.

Impact Payne stepped into lead back duties with Rasheen Ali (undisclosed) sidelined for the contest and was the only running back to see a carry. While he wasn't able to capitalize on the uptick in carries, he ended up tying for the team high in receptions with four and finished the contest with 91 yards from scrimmage. If Ali remains out for Marshall's matchup with Coastal Carolina next week, expect Payne to retain bellcow duties.
