Impact Though he was a secondary receiver again this year, Messer has improved upon his 2023 campaign. With a conference title game and a bowl game left he has 45 catches for 642 yards and four touchdowns.

Tallies 53 yards Messer caught four passes for 53 yards against Liberty on Saturday.

Impact While Messer has kept his role as a secondary receiver for the Hilltoppers, and will comfortably surpass his 42 catches for 484 yards from last season, he was jumped in the depth chart by FCS transfer Kisean Johnson, so his numbers only will rise so much.

NOVEMBER 23 • ROTOWIRE

Totals 17 yards Messer caught two passes for 10 yards and had one catch for seven yards against La Tech on Saturday.

Impact Western Kentucky struggled offensively, and Messer's numbers suffered. Things should pick up next week against Liberty, but there is a reason to be concerned about Messert as WKU's number-two guy. He's only been targeted 14 times over the last four games.

Reels in TD Messer caught four passes for 69 yards and a touchdown against NMSU on Saturday.

Impact That's back-to-back games with a touchdown for Messer. He's built upon last season well, even if he remains in a secondary role. Through nine games he has four touchdowns, and his 495 yards are more than his 484 from all of last season.

NOVEMBER 10 • ROTOWIRE

Catches long TD Messer had two catches for 68 yards and a touchdown against KSU on Wednesday.

Impact It was concerning when Messer had only two catches for 16 yards in WKU's last game. Should we be any less worried this week just because one of his two catches became a 64-yard touchdown? The drop in catches, and targets, does not bode well.

Has 106 yards receiving Messer caught six passes for 106 yards against UTEP on Thursday.

Impact Messer has had a consistent role for the Hilltoppers. Though this is his first 100-yard game of the season, he has at least four catches in each of his last five games. On top of that, Messer returns kicks, so clearly the staff sees something in his ability.

Finds end zone Messer caught four passes for 33 yards and a touchdown against Boston College on Saturday.

Impact Messer has not been the kind of big-play receiver you expect from a kick returner, but he has been a solid secondary option for the Hilltoppers. He has at least three catches in every game, and he has two touchdowns in his last three outings.

SEPTEMBER 28 • ROTOWIRE

Reels in TD Messer caught five passes for 73 yards and a touchdown against MTSU on Saturday. He also ran twice for 18 yards.

Impact This is Messer's first touchdown of the season, but he has 12 catches for 135 yards through three games. However, with Kisean Johnson emerging after joining the Hilltoppers from Alcorn State, it seems like Messer's ceiling is third in the pecking order.
