Staying with Liberty Hunter announced Monday that he removed his name from the transfer portal and will return to Liberty.

Impact Hunter missed the final four games of the season with a lower-body injury before entering his name into the transfer portal Dec. 28. However, it appears the third-year running back has reconsidered and will now return for his second season with Liberty. Over nine games in 2022, Hunter logged career highs in touches (147), total yards (1,001) and total touchdowns (nine). He'll likely enter next season as one of the team's top two running backs alongside Shedro Louis.

He could be in for another good day on Saturday, Oct. 8 at Massachusetts. The Minutemen allow one of the most yards on the ground in the FBS and have allowed a dozen rushing touchdowns.

Impact Hunter is starting to be the go-to back for the Flames after he reached 93 rushing yards the previous week at Wake Forest. In 2021 Hunter surpassed the century mark three times including accumulating 174 yards against Nevada on Oct. 16, 2021. Hunter should be in for another big day this Saturday against Old Dominion who is near the bottom of the FBS in running defense.

However, Hawaii is decidedly pass-heavy, so the lead back moniker may not result in much volume for Hunter.
