Impact Smith caught two passes for 76 yards and a score as the Hilltoppers took down the Dukes in the Boca Raton Bowl. The 6-foot-2 redshirt senior wideout closed out his final collegiate season with 30 receptions for 397 yards and four touchdowns.

Impact Smith ended up with a smaller role than expected this season. This is his high-water mark for receiving yards, and also his second game with a touchdown against an FBS team.

Impact Smith was a strong secondary receiver the last couple years, and some expected him to take over as the number-one guy with Malachi Corley moving onto the NFL. Instead, Kisean Messer and Easton Messer have risen above him on the depth chart, and Smith has all of 162 yards on the season.

We should probably take more away in terms of how good Alabama's defense looks than anything about the WKU passing game.

Impact Smith doubled his 2023 touchdown tally from three to six. Though only one game is a small sample size, it currently seems like he and Caden Veltkamp can connect very well. With the latter presently expected to be Western Kentucky's primary quarterback during 2024, perhaps this connection can continue to excel later this year. Regardless, Smith is a great target for any WKU quarterback, as his 500-plus receiving yards and six corresponding touchdowns suggest.

Impact Obviously, the passing touchdown was on a gimmick play, but it still counts for fantasy purposes. Smith didn't take the step forward some envisioned this season, though injuries played a role, and he still is likely to set new highs in receptions and receiving yards.

Considered week-to-week Smith suffered a minor injury during camp and is considered week-to-week, Jared MacDonald of The Bowling Green Daily News reports.

Impact Smith recorded four catches for 58 yards and a pair of touchdowns last season before his season came to a halt due to a broken leg. While he's past the leg issue, it appears another injury has propped up that will require attention ahead of the season. It's best to consider him questionable for the opener against UT-Martin until more information surfaces.
