Carlos Hernandez News, Rumors, Updates - Wake Forest Demon Deacons

Secures seven receptions in win Hernandez gathered in 7 of 10 targets for 87 yards during Saturday's 57-3 win against Stanford.

Impact Hernandez did a great job jelling with QB Gio Lopez yet again, posting the game-high in receiving yardage. However, Wake built such a huge lead early, that it turned into a mostly run-heavy offensive attack which limited Hernandez's opportunities in the second half. Wake is back at it Saturday at NC State.

Impact Hernandez left the Week 1 game against Akron last week after having the wind knocked out of him. It sounded like he could have returned, but with a lopsided score, Hernandez was held out as a precaution. He has really jelled nicely with QB Gio Lopez, and he has emerged as a solid fantasy option heading into the Miami game next Friday.

Good to go Saturday Hernandez will be available for Saturday's game at Purdue, Cam Lemons Debro of 247Sports.com reports.

Impact Head coach Jake Dickert confirmed Hernandez will play Saturday and that "he just kinda lost his wind" in Saturday's win. Hernandez caught five passes for 165 yards and a touchdown before leaving the game, so he'll look to pick up where he left off Saturday at Purdue.

Impact Hernandez had combined for two receptions and 15 receiving yards over his last three games before breaking out against UNC. The junior wideout set season highs in receptions, targets and receiving yards while reeling in his first touchdown of the campaign. Additionally, he saw just his second rush attempt of the year, which he took to the house from 51 yards out. The increased workload was largely due to the absence of Micah Mays (undisclosed) and Chris Barnes (undisclosed).

Leads team in targets Hernandez hauled in 3 of 6 targets for 20 yards during Friday's 10-9 win against Kennesaw State.

Impact Hernandez's six targets were the most of any Wake Forest wideout, but he turned those opportunities into just three catches for 20 yards. He was initially listed as a co-starter for the contest, but he has seemingly already established a strong rapport with starting quarterback Robby Ashford.

SEPTEMBER 1, 2025 • ROTOWIRE

Labeled as co-starter Hernandez is listed as a co-starter for Wake Forest's opener against Kennesaw State on Friday night, per Cam Lemons Debro of 247Sports.com.

Impact There's plenty of "Or's" on this opening depth chart, and it appears new head coach Jake Dickert isn't trying to reveal too much. Still, Hernandez sharing a spot with Chris Barnes is noteworthy for the transfer from Washington State. Last fall with the Cougars, he reeled in 31 grabs for 397 yards and five scores. He'll look to bring that big play ability to Winston-Salem.
