Cam Cook News, Rumors, Updates - TCU Horned Frogs

Rushing score against Arizona Cook notched six carries for 20 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 49-28 victory against Arizona.

Impact Cook was one of four Horned Frogs to record a rushing score in the blowout of the Wildcats. Teammates Savion Williams and Trent Battle had two apiece. Cook has been a touchdown magnet during the 2024 season with nine scores, six of those coming in the first five games for TCU. TCU has transitioned to a committee approach at RB which has resulted in less opportunities for the starting RB. TCU will finish the regular season at Cincinnati.

Two scores against Oklahoma State Cook notched seven rushes for 47 yards and two touchdowns and hauled in his only target for nine yards during Saturday's 38-13 win against Oklahoma State.

Impact Cook returned to paydirt for the first time since Week 5 when he rumbled for a score at Kansas. In the previous two games, he combined for just four carries, so it does appear that he's back in the mix for the Horned Frogs in the backfield. Cook has eight touchdowns during the 2024 season. TCU will be on a bye before playing Arizona in Week 13.

Logs single carry against TTU Cook tallied one carry for 19 yards during Saturday's 35-34 win over Texas Tech.

Impact Cook saw a single carry for the first time this season. There's some competition between Cook, Trent Battle, and Jeremy Payne for primary usage at the running back position. It's further complicated by receiver Savion Williams who has seen significant snaps in the wildcat formation over the last two weeks. Expect a committee approach with a healthy dose of Williams when the team plays Baylor next week.

Stifled by Utah defense Cook recorded nine rushes for 13 yards and four catches (on five targets) for 22 yards during Saturday's 13-7 win versus Utah.

Impact Cook couldn't find any running room against the Utes. His fantasy performance could have been better if not for a QB rushing touchdown by Josh Hoover and multiple direct snaps to WR Savion Williams. Cook should have more running lanes against Texas Tech next week.

Logs 77 yards against Houston Cook logged 14 rushes for 77 yards and caught 0 of 2 targets for zero yards during Friday's 30-19 loss to Houston.

Impact Cook is averaging 14.5 rushing attempts per game yet has not surpassed the century mark in any contest this season. He does have six touchdowns, but it was teammate Jeremy Payne who vultured the rushing score against Houston. TCU is off next week before they play at Utah.

Adds TD in back-to-back games Cook had 15 rushes for 61 yards and one touchdown and hauled in all three targets for 11 yards during Saturday's 38-27 victory versus Kansas.

Impact Cook has added a touchdown in four of five games this season. On the flip side, the sophomore does have a lost fumble in each of his last two games. It's worth noting that true freshman Jeremy Payne had his best game of the season with eight carries for 65 yards. It's not likely he overtakes Cook for the starting job, but he could get more work as the season goes on. TCU will play Houston next week.

Impact While Cook was able to notch his fifth rushing touchdown of the season, he also had his first lost fumble of his career. That only added to QB Josh Hoover's problem with turnovers as the signal caller had four of his own. Cook has double-digit carries in every game this year and should be a reliable option at Kansas next week.

15 total touches in loss Cook compiled 11 rushes for 35 yards and hauled in 4 of 8 targets for eight yards during Saturday's 35-34 loss against UCF.

Impact Cook has at least 14 touches in each of the first three games to start the year. Although he did not have a score against UCF, his volume suggests that he'll have touchdowns more weeks than when he doesn't. He's a strong play at SMU next week.

Impact Cook had the best game of his young career against the Sharks with three touchdowns. He's carried the rock 33 times in the first two games which suggests he's the running back to roster for fantasy on this team. TCU has an intriguing matchup with UCF next week.

Significant workload in win Cook posted 20 rushes for 81 yards and one touchdown and hauled in his only target for three yards during Friday's 34-27 win against Stanford.

Impact Cook received the bulk of the carries on the night despite having some hamstring issues going into the game. The sophomore back gained steam by the end of the game and even scored the go-ahead touchdown as TCU edged out Stanford on the road. No other TCU running backs had more than two carries, so it appears that Cook can be trusted to handle a large workload. TCU will play LIU next week.

Impact Cook was listed as probable due to a "little hamstring problem," but the star running back will be available and should handle a significant workload in the backfield. Expect Cook to play a prominent role in the offense for the Horned Frogs.

Injury revealed and specified Cook has "a little bit of a hamstring issue" currently, Steven Johnson of The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Impact TCU's head coach Sonny Dykes revealed and specified Cook's injury Friday. Dykes said that Cook sitting out multiple practices was meant for the running back to rest, and that he could have practiced Friday if absolutely necessary. Once Cook can practice, he is expected to be ready to go when the Horned Frogs begin their 2024 at Stanford.

Impact The tailback was spotted on a bike the last three practices as a non-participant. He's still in line to be the Horned Frogs' starter, but he'll have to shake whatever ailment he's currently dealing with before TCU's opener against Stanford on Aug. 30.

Impact TCU's football program has needed a No. 1 at running back after Emani Bailey entered the 2024 NFL Draft. After showcasing big-play potential during the spring and fall, Cook is favored to be Bailey's replacement. Even if the Horned Frogs heavily rely on pass plays this year, they have a lot of room to make up without Bailey. Thus, Cook's 2024 output should significantly surpass that from 2023, when he logged 16 carries fewer than 60 yards.
