Available for Week 7
Ball (undisclosed) is not listed on the injury report for Saturday's game against Cincinnati.
Impact
Ball will return to action after a one-game absence due to an undisclosed injury. The tight end will presumably reclaim his backup role behind starter Ryan Ward.

Unsurprisingly out for Week 6
Ball (undisclosed) is out for West Virginia's next game Saturday against Arizona, according to Big 12 player availability report.
Impact
Prior to Week 6, Ball's injury status continually worsened. For the 2026 NCAA season, his lone stat is a target. Ball logged it Week 3 at Virginia.

Officially doubtful against Arizona
Ball (undisclosed) is listed as doubtful ahead of Saturday's game against Arizona.
Impact
A previous report noted that Ball would be questionable for Saturday's game, but West Virginia's initial injury report has marked him doubtful. The tight end is line to miss his first game of the season. He serves as the backup to Ryan Ward so if he is unavailable, Josh Sapp is expected to fill his role.

Impact
Ball has yet to log a catch this season, so even if the tight end is forced to sit out, don't expect it to impact the Mountaineers' offense.

Dinged up but looking fine for Week 4
Ball (undisclosed) is dinged up but should be ready to go for Saturday's game against Oklahoma State, Spencer Ripchik of The Dominion Post reports.
Impact
Although an undisclosed injury is limiting Ball, it looks like he will not be forced to miss any time because of the issue. Considering that West Virginia's next opponent is also part of the Big 12 Conference, WVU will release an injury report days before hosting OSU. Ideally, the report will clarify how Ball is doing going into Week 4.

Participates in regular-season opener
Ball (undisclosed) participated in Saturday's 31-24 win against Coastal Carolina.
Impact
Even though Ball was not targeted once by Michael Hawkins during Week 1, the tight end is healthy going into the rest of the season. He will look to improve on his 2025 season's two receptions for 12 yards.

Questionable for regular-season opener
Ball (undisclosed) is questionable for West Virginia's regular-season opener Sept. 5 against Coastal Carolina, Schuyler Callihan of SI.com reports.
Impact
After getting nicked up in fall camp, Ball is on the recovery path and attempting to get to 100 percent before West Virginia's regular season begins. The tight end has a better chance to maximize his skill set this season after transferring from Mississippi State. During his two-season tenure with MSU, Ball caught the ball only twice, though he did not miss a pass with his two targets.

Nicked up in camp
Ball (undisclosed) has been limited during West Virginia's fall camp, Spencer Ripchik of The Dominion Post reports.
Impact
Ball is a legitimate challenger for West Virginia's top spot at tight end, so him being limited and potentially out does not bode well for his immediate chances of being a TE1, especially with Ryan Ward (undisclosed) also out. Both tight ends will have just over three weeks to get their physical health in order before Coastal Carolina comes to visit WVU on Sept. 5.
