Takes over for injured starter Sullivan went 11-of-17 passing for 114 yards and a touchdown to go along with 10 carries for 33 yards and a fumble in Saturday's 42-7 loss to Wisconsin.

Impact Sullivan finished Saturday's game in place of starter Ryan Hilinski (10-of-22 passing, 147 yards, 0:2 TD:INT), who was temporarily benched before returning and sustaining a possible concussion on the first drive of the second half. As a result, the 6-foot-3 dual-threat, who pushed for the starting job in fall camp, struggled during the first action of his collegiate career. Sullivan was strip-sacked on his first drive of the second half, though he later connected on back-to-back 21-yard and 41-yard completions to Donny Navarro and Byrce Kirtz in the fourth quarter. Expect the sophomore to serve as the Wildcats' top signal-caller while Hilinski remains in concussion protocol.

Close race for QB job Sullivan and Ryan Hilinski are "neck-and-neck" in the competition for the starting quarterback job, head coach Pat Fitzgerald told the Daily Northwestern.

Impact Hilinski was among a trio of quarterbacks who struggled last season as Northwestern had some of the worst quarterback play in the nation. While Hilinski should improve based on his play at South Carolina before transferring, Northwestern may want to change the page entirely and go with Sullivan, a three-star recruit who didn't play last year and enters his sophomore season.
