Impact As per usual, the Hilltoppers went out there and won with...running the ball? This was a strange game for the WKU passing offense and Reed. He had previously not thrown fewer than 34 passes in a game, and hadn't had fewer than 207 yards. One assumes this won't happen again. Otherwise, something weird is happening for the Hilltoppers.

Impact This is the kind of game we have come to expect from Reed, but have seen fewer of this year. In fact, this is only his second game with over 300 yards passing. Now, through eight games Reed has 2,273 yards, 20 touchdowns, and five interceptions, so you can't complain. It's just clearly been a reality check for this passing offense.

Impact This is not the kind of game we envisioned after Reed threw for 4,744 yards and 40 touchdowns last year. However, Jacksonville State has been stout defensively this season. Liberty next week could be a challenge for Reed, but after that it should be an easy wind down to the season, which should get WKU into a bowl.

Impact Reed had announced an intention to enter the transfer portal, but then decided to return to WKU for another season. That has to make the Hilltoppers coaching staff happy. With these four touchdown, Reed got to 40 passing scores on the season, plus eight rushing scores for good measure.
