The junior remains an efficient passer as well, completing 66.7 percent of his throws against the Cardinals. This was much-needed performance for a floundering quarterback and program. Daniels will look to keep it up next week against California.

Benched vs. NC State Daniels completed 6 of 8 passes for 70 yards during Saturday's 59-28 defeat to North Carolina State. He also had 11 rushes for 129 yards with two touchdowns.

Impact Daniels started the game but was ultimately replaced by Justin Lamson. Stanford's quarterback room is a hot mess right now. Both gunslingers scored twice, but neither looked particularly good doing it. Daniels at least provides the more dynamic element as a runner, as evidenced by his 129 yards and two scores in that department. That should allow him to keep the slight edge over Lamson, but it's awfully close in Palo Alto.

He turned the ball over twice and while he kept the Cardinal close, it ultimately wasn't enough to beat a struggling Wake Forest team. If he can hang onto the starting gig, he'll look to bounce back next week against NC State.

Impact Daniels started the game for Stanford, but was removed after a handful of fruitless drives to open the game and replaced with Elijah Brown. If there's a silver lining for Daniels, it's that Brown didn't fare much better, and was arguably a net negative against SMU. This quarterback situation in Palo Alto is nearing time to panic, as no matter who takes snaps for the Cardinal, it simply can't get steady play from its signal caller. Impact Daniels was let down by his defense Saturday, but the sophomore has put together solid numbers against a ranked team for the second consecutive week. After directing eight scoring drives against USC, UCLA's defense was a much tougher test. The scoreboard doesn't necessarily reflect it, but that's a result of sputtering out in the red zone.
