Lands at Iowa State Barnes will transfer to Iowa State, per On3.com.

Impact Barnes spent the first three seasons of his career at Tulane. His best year came as a sophomore in 2024, when he ran for 402 yards and six touchdowns on 87 carries. Last fall, he notched 217 rushing yards on 51 carries, also catching two passes for 16 yards. Now, the tailback will add depth to the Cyclones' backfield, which lacks a true top option and has plenty of question marks after losing its top two rushers from last fall.

To enter portal Barnes plans to enter the transfer portal, SetVision Management reports.

Impact Barnes will go into the portal with one year of eligibility remaining. Barnes has rushed for 757 yards and six touchdowns across three seasons with Tulane.

Headed for committee role Barnes is set to be included in the running back rotation for the 2025 season, Patrick Harkness of The Kneaux reports.

Impact Reports indicate the team will be utilizing a running back-by-committee approach which will include Barnes during short yardage situations. The junior running back will be splitting work with Jamauri McClure, Maurice Turner and Zuberi Mobley with the lead role being open to whoever outperforms the rest.

Productive versus Navy Barnes compiled 12 carries for 62 yards and caught their only target for one yard and one touchdown during Saturday's 35-0 victory versus Navy.

Impact Barnes found the end zone again on Saturday as he caught a one-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter. He also saw a season-high 12 carries and rushed for a solid 62 yards, surprising numbers considering the difficult matchup on paper. He still featured far less than Makhi Hughes, but he still received a lot of work in the blowout win.

Scores twice Saturday Barnes compiled eight rushes for 27 yards and two touchdowns and reeled in 1 of 3 targets for negative three yards during Saturday's 52-6 victory versus Temple.

Impact Barnes found the end zone twice Saturday, his second multi-touchdown outing of the season. He had eight carries thanks to Tulane jumping out to a big lead and although he found the end zone twice, his 27 yards left something to be desired. He is unlikely to feature much Saturday at Navy.

Impact Barnes scored a pair of touchdowns Saturday, his first two scores since Week 1. He set season highs in rushing attempts and yards as he got a lot of work in the second half due to the Green Wave's commanding lead. Barnes appears to be the team's No. 2 back behind Mekhi Hughes, so if anything were to happen to Hughes Barnes would be in for a big workload.
