Alton McCaskill News, Rumors, Updates - Sam Houston Bearkats

Rushes for TD McCaskill rushed eight times for 41 yards and a touchdown against Nicholls on Saturday.

Impact The Bearkats are airing it out offensively, and then in the run game divvy out the carries. McCaskill gets the most of them, but he's finished between 41 and 51 rushing yards in every game, because without a big run there is only so much he can do as one cog in a machine.

SEPTEMBER 2 • ROTOWIRE

Able to suit up Saturday McCaskill (undisclosed) notched eight carries for 32 yards during Saturday's 56-16 defeat versus Florida International.

Impact McCaskill was previously listed as questionable ahead of Saturday's contest due to an undisclosed injury, but was able to give it a go against the Panthers. The 6-foot-2 running back was mostly held in check in his limited opportunities against FIU, running for 32 scoreless yards on just eight rushing attempts. McCaskill will finish the season with 371 yards and a touchdown on 4.2 yards per attempt on the ground across eight games for Sam Houston this season, hauling in nine receptions for 66 yards and a score through the air as well. With Sam Houston finishing just 2-10 on the year and with no remaining eligibility left, McCaskill has played his final collegiate game.

This season, McCaskill has 80 carries, 339 rushing yards and two total touchdowns.

Questionable Saturday McCaskill (undisclosed) is questionable for Saturday's game at Middle Tennessee State.

Impact McCaskill looks to be dealing with an injury ahead of the Bearkats' afternoon showing. If the redshirt senior rusher is unable to play, Landan Brown and Jerrian Parker should see increased roles in the away game.

NOVEMBER 22, 2025 • ROTOWIRE

Moderate showing in victory McCaskill (undisclosed) posted 14 carries for 46 yards and hauled in their only target for 12 yards during Saturday's 26-23 victory versus Delaware.

Impact McCaskill was previously listed as questionable for Saturday's contest due to an undisclosed injury but was able to give it a go against Delaware. The 6-foot-2 running back put up a respectable performance against the Blue Hens, totaling 46 yards on the ground while catching his only target for 12 yards through the air as well. His next chance to impress wil come against Middle Tennessee next week.

Deemed questionable McCaskill is listed as questionable for Saturday's game against Delaware due to an undisclosed injury.

Impact McCaskill carried a questionable tag into SHSU's previous contest but suited up and saw seven carries. It's unclear if the senior tailback will be able to do the same in Week 12. If he misses, Landan Brown and Jerrian Parker would see increased roles.

Records seven attempts in win McCaskill (undisclosed) logged seven rushes for two yards in Saturday's 21-17 win over Oregon State.

Impact McCaskill ended up squashing a questionable status and playing in the Bearkats' close win. While the supplementary rusher was extremely inefficient with his seven carries, his ability to play is promising for the next few weeks. He'll face off against Delaware next Saturday.

NOVEMBER 9, 2025 • ROTOWIRE

Held out in Week 10 McCaskill (undisclosed) did not play during Friday's 55-14 loss to Louisiana Tech.

The 6-foot-2 running back had been playing well before his injury, running for 139 yards on 5.6 yards per carry across the team's last two games. His next opportunity to return will come against Oregon State on Saturday.

Rushes for over 50 yards McCaskill ran 11 times for 52 yards and had two catches for 15 yards Wednesday versus UTEP.

Impact McCaskill competes with carries with Landan Brown (and Elijah Green on the occasions he is healthy enough). However, McCaskill is the one who, whenever healthy, has gotten double-digit carries in every game.

OCTOBER 16, 2025 • ROTOWIRE

Rushes for 87 yards McCaskill ran 14 times for 87 yards against JSU on Thursday.

Impact McCaskill looked much better than last week, which was his first game since Week 0 due to injury. He's rushed for over six yards per carry in his two starts when he was in gear, which is encouraging.

OCTOBER 10, 2025 • ROTOWIRE

Catches TD in return McCaskill ran 13 times for 38 yards and had three catches for 26 yards and touchdown Saturday versus NMSU.

Impact McCaskill ran well in Week 0, but then also went down with an undisclosed issue that cost him three games. Averaging 2.9 yards per carry against NMSU isn't terribly intriguing, even with the receiving score.

Impact After being injured in Week 0 and missing the subsequent three games, McCaskill is back on the field and receiving touches in Thursday's road contest. He figured to play a sizable role with Elijah Green (undisclosed) out.

Included on Week 2 depth chart McCaskill (undisclosed) is listed on Sam Houston's depth chart for Week 2, per Sports of SHSU.

Impact McCaskill didn't play in Week 1 after amassing 72 rushing yards and a touchdown in Week 0. The tailback has since been described as questionable for Saturday night against Hawaii, and his inclusion on the two-deep ahead of the matchup is a good sign if not a concrete indicator that he'll play.

SEPTEMBER 3, 2025 • ROTOWIRE

Impact McCaskill logged 11 carries for 72 yards and one touchdown in the Week 0 loss to Western Kentucky, but missed Week 1 against UNLV. The tailback appears to be trending positively, however, and is now firmly questionable for Week 2 against Hawaii. Upon his return, he'll slide into a backfield that currently features Elijah Green and Landan Brown.

SEPTEMBER 2, 2025 • ROTOWIRE

Not playing in season opener McCaskill (undisclosed) is out for Friday's game against UNLV.

Impact McCaskill was expected to see a decent workload in the backfield as the backup of Elijah Green, but that won't be the case anymore. This means Landan Brown and Jerrian Parker are tipped to see a bigger workload out of the backfield behind Green.
