Will miss rest of season Orji will miss the rest of the season with a Grade 3 LCL injury and a torn hamstring, Dominic Lavoie of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
Impact Orji saw action in the Week 2 matchup against UCLA, but he won't be returning to the gridiron this season. His absence wasn't expected to have a lot of fantasy implications since Anthony Colandrea will remain the starter, but Cameron Friel is expected to handle the backup duties under center from now on.

Impact After ceding quarterback duties to Anthony Colandrea in the second half of UNLV's Week 0 opener, Orji found himself as the backup once again in Week 1, only entering the game for a handful of designed runs. While Orji could continue to see occasional usage in the run game, the starting job appears to belong to Colandrea going forward.

Impact It seems likely that Colandrea will get the start, considering he handled all of the work in the second half for UNLV and Orji didn't look particularly impressive, fumbling the ball on his first drive. Still, both players remain listed as starters, but at this point that seems like misdirection to keep Sam Houston guessing. Both signal callers could play again, but Orji figures to take a back seat.

Impact Orji and Anthony Colandrea played alternating drives to start Saturday's contest, with the Michigan transfer starting UNLV's first drive under center. However, Orji had a costly fumble on the goal line on his first possession and Colandrea ultimately took over as the starter in the second half. While Orji did see action in a goalline package in the fourth quarter and would run in the go-ahead touchdown, it appears that Colandrea will be UNLV's preferred option next week against Sam Houston.

Impact Orji also turned the ball over on his first drive, fumbling as he tried to break the plane on a quarterback run. It was reported before game time that UNLV planned to play both Orji and Colandrea, and it appears head coach Dan Mullen will give each ample opportunity and perhaps let them alternate drives until something sticks.

Impact Orji's 2024 season didn't go as planned. He wasn't able to secure the starting job for the Wolverines in his third season in Ann Arbor, and struggled as a passer, tossing for just 150 yards on 47 attempts. He threw three touchdowns, two interceptions and completed 53.2 percent of his passes while also rushing for 269 yards and a score. He'll have two seasons of eligibility remaining with the Runnin' Rebels, where he'll look to secure the QB1 job in Vegas.

Impact Orji is expected to appear in the Wolverines' showdown with Alabama next week after entering the transfer portal earlier this month. The 6-foot-3 junior appeared in 10 games this season, throwing for 148 yards (23-of-44), three touchdowns and one interception, adding on 260 yards and one touchdown on the ground. Davis Warren remains the projected starter for Michigan, but Orji has been used around the goal line by the Wolverines throughout the season.
